Nick DePuy – Sophomore – Forward – UC Santa Barbara

DePuy and his UCSB teammates secured two solid Big West Conference wins defeating CSUN 2-1 and UC Irvine 1-0 to improve to 6-3-1 with a 2-0-0 mark in conference play.  DePuy netted what proved to be the game winning goal in the match with CSUN and assisted on teammate Duncan Backus's goal to enable the Gauchos to come from behind to top the Matadors.  UC Santa Barbara coach Tim Vom Steeg stated, "Anytime you can get a good result against a great team like Northridge, you're happy."  In the contest with UC Irvine, DePuy controlled a clearance with less than a minute remaining in regulation and sent a picture perfect shot from thirty-five yards out into the upper left corner of the net to give the Gauchos the win before a crowd of 4,731 fans at Harder Stadium. Vom Steeg stated, "It was obviously a great shot by Nick.  I can't think of a better way to finish the first week of conference."

UC Santa Barbara will take to the road to tangle with Cal State Fullerton on Thursday and UC Riverside on Saturday night.
