Welcome to the most recent edition of "Up Close" on CollegeSoccerNews.com, where host Adam Zundell brings you the voices of the game — players and coaches — straight to you, unfiltered, exclusively on CollegeSoccerNews.com.

Utah Valley head coach Greg Maas joins the program this week to talk about the quick ascension of his program in the college soccer ranks. Coach Maas talks about the growth of soccer in the area and the proactive first steps the athletic department took to help build a strong fan base in the first two year. He also talks about his involvement in growing the game at the youth level prior to taking the job at Utah Valley, and finishes the interview by previewing the upcoming season for the Wolverines.

Key Quote:

"I started in 2013 with really a clean slate and an opportunity to build a brand new program. The timing allowed me to be patient not only to build my staff but our first roster around what I knew was going to be a successful first year." — Greg Maas
