There were several strong showings from seniors this past week, as well as more goal production from Ivy League freshman.

Here’s our Week 8 women’s soccer awards:

Team of the Week

North Carolina

North Carolina extended their winning streak to eight games against No. 12 Notre Dame, beating the Fighting Irish 4-1. Lilliah Blum had three goal contributions in the game (1g/2a). Next up for the Tar Heels is at Florida State on Friday.

Offensive Player of the Week

Amanda Schlueter – Senior – Midfielder – Ohio State

Amanda Schlueter is on an absolute heater with braces in four of her last five games. Most recently, she scored a brace and provided an assist in a 3-0 win over Northwestern. The senior is on track to have her most productive collegiate season.

Defensive Player of the Week

Olivia Shertzer – Senior – Fullback – West Virginia

Olivia Shertzer and the West Virginia backline held Houston to a clean sheet and she contributed to both of the Mountaineers goals (1g/1a). Shertzer also made a massive clearance off the line in the first few minutes to help preserve the shutout which was the program’s second straight on the road.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Kaïna Cesar – Junior – UCF

Kaïna Cesar helped UCF earn the win against a top Colorado squad by keeping the clean sheet with four saves. It was a crucial result as UCF had just lost back-to-back road games. Cesar and co. hit the road again this week to take on TCU.

Freshman of the Week

Stella Monberg – Forward – Princeton

Stella Monberg scored a brace against our Week 7 Freshman of the Week Brooke Huleatt and Harvard. Monberg followed that brace with another one this past weekend against Yale. She now has a goal contribution in four straight games.
