This afternoon, United Soccer Coaches released their midseason watch list for the 2025 Hermann Trophy. 10 players from North and South Carolina schools were included. North Carolina schools had more players than any other state.
Here is the list of players from Carolina schools on the Men’s Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List:
Logan Erb – Goalkeeper – Senior – NC State
Erb has only allowed two goals through 11 games so far this year, helping the Wolfpack keep nine clean sheets with a 92.9 save percentage. Erb and NC State have struggled since entering conference play (1-1-2 ACC record), but they have an opportunity to clear that slate tonight against Clemson.
Kamran Acito – Defender – Senior – Duke
Acito and the Duke Blue Devils have allowed the second fewest goals in the ACC (6). The senior defender also has two assists on the year. Duke and Acito are undefeated so far this season, with another opportunity for points tonight against Boston College.
Nikola Markovic – Defender – Sophomore – NC State
Markovic has also been a key piece of NC State’s strong defensive performances along their backline. Besides the eight clean sheets to start the year the sophomore defender has also contributed to three goals (2g/1a).
Cooper Flax – Midfielder – Senior – Wake Forest
Flax’s goal production started slowly, but the midfielder had seven goal contributions (4g/3a) to end September against Liberty and Clemson. Wake Forest has only one once in their last six games and will have an opportunity to right the ship against California on Saturday.
Ransford Gyan – Midfielder – Sophomore – Clemson
Gyan has already set career bests in both goals (8) and assists (7) through the first 10 games this year. The sophomore midfielder has a goal contribution in three straight games and he will look to keep that streak going tonight against NC State.

Diego Hernandez – Midfielder – Junior – Furman
Hernandez has 11 goal contributions (6g/5a) so far this year. With Hernandez’s leadership, Furman’s attack tops the Southern Conference in goals scored (28). Hernandez and the Paladins’ next matchup is tomorrow against ETSU.
Kenan Hot – Midfielder – Senior – Duke
Hot has 10 goal contributions (6g/4a) through 11 starts in 2025. The senior midfielder is in the top five in the ACC in points (16), and will look to keep his productive season going against Boston College.
Enzo Dovlo – Forward – Junior – UNC-Greensboro
Dovlo is coming off a two-assist performance on Wednesday against High Point and now has 13 goal contributions on the year (7g/6a). The junior forward and UNCG’s next game is against VMI on Saturday.
Daniel Lugo – Forward – Sophomore – High Point
Lugo has nine goal contributions (7g/2a) through 11 starts this season. He currently leads the Big South in points with 16. Lugo and the Panthers play USC Upstate this Sunday.
Donavan Phillip – Forward – Junior – NC State
Phillip leads all of men’s Division I soccer with 14 goals. The junior forward had a six-game scoring streak before the Wolfpack were shut out by Virginia last Sunday. Phillip will have an opportunity to get back on the score sheet tonight against Clemson.
