Indiana Back Andrew Gutman – College Soccer News National Player of the Week – September 2, 2018

Andrew Gutman Senior Defender  Indiana University

Gutman played a key role in Indiana's wins over Dartmouth and Connecticut.  He scored Indiana's first goal in their 3-0 win over Dartmounth when he sent a header into the back of the frame out of a free kick with a double assist from teammates Cory Thomas and Trevor Swartz.  He also was credited with an assist along with Spencer Glass in Griffin Dorsey's goal.

Gutman decisively sent a header into the back of the net out of a corner kick put in play by Trevor Swartz to net the lone goal in IU's 1-0 win over Connecticut.

Based on his play on both sides of the ball, Gutman was named the MVP of the 2018 adidas/IU Credit Union Classic.

Indiana has now won three in a row to improve to 3-1-0.  The Hoosiers have not allowed a goal since opening the season with a 2-1 loss in overtime to Wake Forest in Winston Salem.

The Hoosiers return to the pitch on Friday, September 7 when they welcome VCU to Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
