College SocCer News – Women’s National Team of The Week – Week Ending November 1, 2020

It was a week of close contests in which the difference between a win and a loss was very small in many games. The College Soccer News Team of the Week recognizes players on both sides of the ball who were difference makers during the week. 

Tori Powell – Freshman – Forward – Virginia Tech – Powell who is from Haymarket, Virginia  scored twice including the game-winning goal in overtime and contributed a helper on teammate Emily Gray’s goal in Virginia Tech’s 4-3 win over Wake Forest. She also contribued an assist on Gray’s goal in Virginia Tech’s 3-0 win over Boston College. The Hokies are now 4-7-0.
Parker Goins – Senior – Forward – Arkansas – Goins who is from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma assisted on teammate Anna Podojil’s goal and scored what proved to be the game-winner in Arkansas’ 2-1 win over a very good Auburn team. Arkansas improves to 6-1-0.  
Madisyn Pezzino – Senior – Forward – Mississippi – Pezzino who hails from  from Grand Island, New York made the most of her time on the pitch with two clutch goals that twice enabled Ole Miss to come back from a goal down in their 4-3 win over the Georgia Bulldogs. Channing Foster netted the game-winner for Ole Miss out of a free kick in the 90th minute of the match. 
Diana Ordonez – Sophomore – Forward – Virginia – Ordonez provided an assist on defender Claire Constant’s goal in Virginia’s 2-1 win over Boston College. Ordonez and fellow freshman Lia Godfrey also had a two goal and one helper day to help power the Cavaliers past Syracuse 5-3. Virginia improves to 7-2-1.  
Jody Brown – Freshman – Forward – Florida State – The FSU freshman from St. Ann, Jamaica utilized her speed and touch on the ball to score twice on a beautiful fall day in Tallahassee to help power the Seminoles past Clemson 2-0. FSU also topped Duke 1-0 earlier in the week to finish regular season play with a perfect 8-0-0 record.   
Stefany Ferrer-vanGinkel – Senior – Midfielder – West Virginia – Ferrer-vanGinkel who hails from Barcelona, Spain used her touch on the ball and quickness to find the back of the net twice in West Virginia’s 2-1 win over a very good Kansas team. The Mountaineers improve to 7-1-0 and will face TCU on Friday, November 6 with the Big 12 regular season title on the line.  
Brookelynn Entz – Senior – Midfielder – Kansas State – Entz who is from Newton, Kansas scored twice to led Kansas State to a 2-0 win on the road over Iowa State. Her first goal was set up by a nice pass from defender Shae Turner. Entz’s second goal was a left footed strike from sixteen yards out. The Wildcats are now 2-6-0 with two wins to date in Big 12 Conference play.
Claudia Dipasupil – Sophomore – Midfielder – Tennessee – Dipasupil who is from Upper Saddle River, New Jersey sent a left footer into the back of the frame from 25 yards out and provided the helper on teammate Jaida Thomas’ game-winner to help the Vols top Florida 2-1 in Gainesville. Tennessee improves to 3-3-1. 
Olyvia Dowell – Sophomore – Midfielder – Oklahoma State – Dowell who is from Longview, Texas came up big for the Cowgirls with a nice move off the dribble into the middle of the box that created the space that she needed to send a left footer into the near post with 54 seconds remaining in the first overtime period. It was her second golden goal of the year.  
Abril Lucio – Junior – Midfielder – Little Rock – Lucio who is from Wichita, Kansas gave the Trojans the edge they needed to top ULM 2-1 when she drove a shot into the top left shelf of the goal from just inside the box with three minutes remaining in the first overtime period. Senior Bergros Asgeirsdottir contributed the assist. Little Rock is 3-5-2 overall. 
Ella Shamburger – Junior – Defender – Vanderbilt – Shamburger who hails from Atlanta, Georgia was a factor on both sides of the ball helping  Vanderbilt build their attack from the back and contributing to a defensive effort that shutout LSU 2-0 in Baton Rouge. Vanderbilt is 4-3-0.  
Jenna Tivnan – Junior – Defender – Syracuse – Tivnan who is from Easton, Massachusetts provided the game-winning goal when she drove a header into the back of the frame out of a corner kick put in play by freshman defender Lindsay Brick in Syracue’s 1-0 win over Miami. She also scored with an assist from Brick in the Orange’s 5-3 loss to Virginia.  
Savannah Madden – Senior – Goalkeeper – Texas – Madden who is from San Diego, California had ten saves in goal to anchor a steady Longhorn defense that shutout I-35 rival Baylor 1-0. Madden recorded her fifth solo shutout. Junior forward Cameron Brooks contributed the game-winner for Texas. The Longhorns improve to 4-4-0.
