College Soccer News – Women’s National Team Of The Week – Week Ending February 14, 2021

the college soccer news team of the week recognizes top performers who played a key role in the success that their teams had during the week.

Sunshine Fontes – Redshirt Freshman – Forward – UCLA – Fontes scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with a double assist from teammates Reilyn Turner and Delanie Sheehan in UCLA’s 2-1 come from behind win over BYU. The Bruins are 2-0-0.
Taryn Ries – Senior – Forward – Portland – Ries scored three times to help power Portland to an impressive 4-3 season opening win over Oregon State.
Mallory Olsson – Junior – Forward – UCF – Olsson was a difference maker on the offensive side of the ball scoring twice to play a key role in the Knights season opening 3-0 win on the road over Temple.
Lexxe Lipsey – Senior – Forward – UAB – Lipsey scored once in the first half and twice in the second to power an explosive UAB attack to a 5-0 win over North Alabama.
Samantha Jerabek – Redshirt Junior – Midfielder – VCU – Jerabek scored three times in the second stanza to lead VCU to a 4-0 win over Old Dominion at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond.
Hannah Friedrich – Junior – Midfielder – Saint Louis – Friedrich netted the Billikens first goal and assisted on teammate Anna Walsh’s score to help Saint Louis top Xavier 2-0. Saint Louis is 2-0-0.
Olivia Nguyen – Junior – Midfielder – Arizona State – Nguyen played a key role in Arizona State’s back-to-back wins last week over Grand Canyon. She scored the game-winning goal in the Sun Devils 3-2 victory over the Lopes and contributed two goals and an assist in their subsequent 4-0 win. Arizona State is now 4-0-0.
Chole Mills – Junior – Defender – Northern Kentucky – Mills was a key ingredient in a solid NKU defense that shutout Robert Morris 1-0. Freshman Sofia Wilmes provided the game-winner for the Norse in double-overtime.
Carli Arthurs – Graduate Student – Defender – Stephen F. Austin – Arthurs scored twice in the second half to play a key role in the Lumberjacks 3-0 win over Central Arkansas. SFA is now 3-2-2 with a 1-1-0 mark in the spring season.
Carsen Parker – Senior – Defender – East Carolina – Parker was a difference maker for ECU on both sides of he ball. She was at the heart of a rock solid Pirate defense and alertly contributed the game-winning goal in overtime in ECU’s 1-0 win over Houston. East Carolina improves to 1-1-0.
Bella Killgore – Junior – Goalkeeper – Rice – Killgore had a three save evening in goal to anchor an Owl defense that shutout UTSA 1-0 and scored the game-winner out of a free kick. Rice improves to 2-0-0.
