College Soccer News National Team Of The Week – Week Ending September 14, 2014

Jamie Dubyoski – Junior – Forward – Navy  Dubyoski continues to make big plays for the Mids.  He scored the game-winning goal off a double assist from Derek Vogel and Brock Dubley in Navy's 2-1 win over highly regarded Maryland. He also drove a header into the back of the net in Navy's 3-1 win over CCSU and assisted on teammate Daniel Camuti's goal. The Mids improve to  3-1-1. 
Mason Robertson – Sophomore – Forward – Washington Robertson was at the heart of Washington's offense scoring twice in their 3 -1 win over UConn. HIs first goal came after he made a picture perfect move off the dribble to create the space he needed to drive a shot into the back of the frame. His second goal came out of a header after receiving a well played ball from Cristian Roldan.  He also assisted on one of teammate Darwin Jones' two goals in Washington's 3-1 win over Pennsylvania.   
Stefano Bonomo – Senior – Forward – California  Bonomo netted a hat trick and contributed an assist to lead the Golden Bears past Cleveland State 6-1.  California also topped Gonzaga 1-0 with freshman forward Jose Carrera-Garcia scoring the lone goal in the contest.  The Golden Bears have now won three straight after losing their season opener to improve to 3-1-0. 
Austin Meyer – RS Senior – Midfielder – Stanford  Meyer was a catalyst on the offensive side of the ball in Stanford's 4-1 thumping of UC Santa Barbara.  His services out of set pieces played a part in three of the four Cardinal goals. Jeremy Gunn stated, "He's (Meyer) been working hard at it.  We had some fantastic deliveries tonight. Stanford improves to 3-1-0 year to date.  
Joe Dipre – Junior – Midfielder – Delaware Dipre netted what proved to be the game-winning goal when he drove a shot from thirty yards out that sailed just under the crossbar to give the Blue Hens a 3-2 come from behind win over Seton Hall.  He also netted the game-winning goal from fifteen yards with an assist from Nick DiRienzo to help power Delaware past St. Peter's 2-1.  The Blue Hens are 6-0-0.  
Devonte Small – Sophomore – Midfielder – Oregon State Small had a productive weekend of play in the Hensor/Zaher Nike Classic in Corvallis, Oregon. He netted the lone goal in Oregon State's 1-0 win over Siena with a double assist coming from Zach Striar and Khiry Shelton. He also alertly controlled a loose ball in the box and sent it into the back of the frame to help the Beavers top Duquesne 2-1 to up their record to 5-1-0.     
Garrett Halfhill – Senior – Midfielder – Xavier  Halfhill scored twice to help Xavier secure a 3-0 victory over crosstown rival Cincinnati 3-0 before a crowd of 2,178 fans at the XU Soccer Complex. Halfhill netted his first score with assists from Alex Ridsdale and Kyle Martin.  His second goal was a header out of a corner kick with a double assist from Will Walker and Martin.  Xavier has won three straight to improve to 3-2-0.   
Biko Bradnock-Brennan – Junior – Defender – Charlotte  Bradnock-Brennan, who is from Cork, Ireland, ancored a very effective and well organized Charlotte defense that recorded on the road shutouts against UNCG 2-0 and Winthrop 3-0. Bradnock-Brennan and 49er goalkeeper Austin Pack are a big part of a Charlotte defense that has allowed a total of only three goals to date. The 49ers improve to 3-1-0.   
Tyler David – Junior – Defender – Saint Louis  David's first career goal at Saint Louis was a big one.  His header out of a corner kick put in play by junior Marco Heskamp gave the Billikens the edge they needed to upset Louisville 1-0. David and fellow defender Anthony Manning were also part of a solid Saint Louis effort on both sides of the ball that resulted in a 3-1 win over Evansville.  The Billikens improve to 4-1-0.  
Liam Doyle – Junior – Defender – Ohio State Doyle was a difference maker for the Buckeyes on both sides of the ball in their 2-0 shutout win over Northwestern. Doyle converted a penalty kick and was a key part of a very well organized and solid Ohio State backline.  John Bluem stated, "We have a solid back four and Liam Doyle is a remendous player for us.  He has been the achor since he's arrived here and today we rallied around him."  The win was the first regular season win for Ohio State over Northwestern since the 2005 sesaon. 
Nico Campbell – Sophomore – Goalkeeper – Valparaiso  Campell and his Crusader teammates picked up two solid wins this week. Campbell had a nine save evening in Valpo's 2-1 win in overtime agains Butler.  He also anchored a very solid Crusader defensive effort to play a key role in Valpo's on the road 1-0 upset win over Michigan State.  The win over the Spartans was Valpo's first ever win against a top ten ranked opponent.  
Callum Irving – Junior – Goalkeeper – Kentucky  Irving came up big for Kentucky making seven saves including several prime time stops that put his team in the position to upset Notre Dame 1-0 with freshman Stefan Stojkovic's contributing the game winning goal with just 25 ticks remaining in regulation. Irving also anchored a Kentucky defense that recorded a 2-0 shutout win over a good ETSU team. Kentucky gains a ton of momentum as they improve their record to 3-2-0.
