College Soccer News – National Player Of The Week – Providence Forward Julian Gressel – Week Ending November 20, 2016

Julian Gressel Senior Forward Providence

Gressel is a difference maker for the Friars. This week he scored the insurance goal in Providence's first round 2-0 win over Delaware.

He also contributed two goals to help Providence upset number one seed Maryland 5 to 4 in College Park in the second round on the NCAA Tournament. The loss was Maryland's first of the 2016 season. In an improbable finish the Friars scored four unanswered goals in the second half of play to earn the right to advance to the Sweet Sixteen where they will face fellow Big East Conference member Creighton who topped number sixteen seed Kentucky 3 to 2.

Providence improves to 14-6-0.

Gressel has scored a total of twelve goals so far this year including five game-winners.
