College Soccer News – Men’s National Team of The Week – Week Ending November 15, 2020

It was a competitve week of Play with four Quarterfinal Contests in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament and the Semifinal and Final Contests in the Sun Belt Conference. The College Soccer News Team of The Week Reflects individual Players who were Difference makers during the week.

Grayson Barber – Junior – Forward – Clemson – Barber who is from Elgin, South Carolina continues to be a catalyst and playmaker for the Tigers. He contributed two assists to help power a potent Clemson attack to a 4-1 win over a good Virginia Tech team in a quarterfinal match in the ACC Tournament.
Aiden McFadden Senior – Forward – Notre Dame – McFadden who hails from West Chester, Pennsylvania came through in the clutch for the Irish when he scored out of a corner kick in the final minute of the first overtime period to give Notre Dame the edge they needed to defeat North Carolina 1-0 in a quarterfinal match in the ACC Tournament.
Cabrel Happi Kamseu – Junior – Forward – Virginia – Kamseu converted a header and lofted a chip shot into the back of the frame to provide the offensive firepower that Virginia needed to upset highly regarded Wake Forest 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. The Cavaliers improve to 3-3-1 and advance to face Clemson in the semifinals.
Kimarni Smith – Senior Forward Clemson – Smith scored three times in the first stanza of the contest to power a high octane Clemson attack in a 4-1 win over Virginia Tech in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.
Jackson Walti – Junior – Midfielder – Pittsburgh – Walti who hails from Vebey, Switzerland and came to Pitt via Montverde Academy netted Pitts first goal of the evening in their 2-1 victory over Duke on Sunday night at the Dail Soccer Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. The Panthers improve to 6-0-0 and advance to face Notre Dame in the semifinals.
Valentin Noel SophomoreMidfielder – Pittsburgh – Noel who is from Niort, France scored and provided the helper on teammate Jackson Walti’s goal to help Pitt top Duke 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.
Marcello Jones – Junior – Midfielder – Coastal Carolina – Jones scored twice and contributed an assist in Coastal Carolina’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinal win over Georgia Southern.
Alex Henderson – Freshman – Defender – Georgia State – Henderson who hails from Ipswich, England was named to the Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament Team. He scored Georgia State’s lone goal in the 87th minute of their semifinal contest with Central Arkansas to knot the score at 1-1. Georgia State eventually prevailed 4-2 in a penalty kick shootout. Henderson was also part of a solid Georgia State defensive effort in a scoreless tie with Coastal Carolina after 110 minutes of play in the championship game. Coastal Carolina then prevailed in a penalty kick shootout.
Marcelo Lage – Junior – Defender – Coastal Carolina – Lage was solid on both sides of the ball scoring twice in Coastal Carolina’s 6-0 win over Georgia Southern and contributing to a solid defensive effort in the Chanticleers contest with Georgia State. CCU completes the fall season with a 6-1-1 record and their fourth tournament title in the past five years.
Tor Saunders – Senior – Goalkeeper – Coastal Carolina – Saunders who is from Bothell, Washington was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. He posted two shutouts for the Chanticleers who won the Sun Belt Tourney after defeating Georgia Southern 6-0 and Georgia State 4-3 in a penalty kick shootout after the game was scoreless at the end of 110 minutes of play.
Colin Shutler – Graduate Student – Goalkeeper – Virginia – Shuter who hails from Middleburg, Virginia anchored a Virginia defense that shutout Wake Forest 2-0 in Winston-Salem in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.
Keagan McLaughlin – Senior – Goalkeeper – Notre Dame – McLaughlin who is from Zanesville, Ohio had a career high five save contest to record his third shutout of the 2020 fall season and anchor an Irish defense that shutout North Carolina 1-0 in a quarterfinal match in the ACC Tournament.
