College Soccer News – National Team of the Week – Week Ending October 7, 2018

The College Soccer News Team of the Week Reflects Key Performers And Difference Makers Who Had A Positive Impact On The Success Of Their Team.    

Lachlan McLean

SIUE 

The junior striker scored from six yards out with two minutes remaining to give SIUE the edge they needed to top IUPUI.  He also scored twice in the Cougar's  3-2 win over NIU. SIUE is 8-1-2 with a 1-0 mark in MAC play.

Charles Touche

Cornell

The sophomore forward scored three times to power the Big Red attack past Harvard 4-2. Cornell has won five straight to up their record to 8-2-0 with a 2-0-0 mark in Ivy League play. 

Thomas Ueland

Notre Dame

The senior forward was a catalyst in Notre Dame's 3-0 win over Northwestern and  2-1 win over Louisville.  He contributed an assist in the win over the Wildcats and drove a shot into the far post in the win over Louisville.  

Cal Jennings

UCF

The junior forward from Roswell, Georgia had a four goal and one assist week.  He scored twice and added a helper in UCF's win over Jacksonville and placed two shot into the back of the frame in UCF's 4-3 win over Tulsa.  UCF is 8-2-1. 

Jake Rudel

Saint Mary's 

The junior striker curled a shot into the back of the frame from outside the box and sent a header into the net in Saint Mary's 4-0 win over Pacific in a West Coast Conference constest.  The Gaels are a perfect 12-0-0.  

Derek MacKinnon

Saint Joseph

The senior midfielder netted the equalizing goal in Saint Joseph's 2-2 tie with LaSalle. He also added a key goal with a double assist from Alvin Dahn and Daniel Morales in the Hawk's 3-2 win over Fordham.  SJU improves to 7-3-2. 

Niko Klosterhalfen

Old Dominion

The senior midfieder scored twice including the game-winner in overtime to power ODU past William and Mary 3-2.  He also scored in the Monarch's 4-1 win over FAU.  ODU is 7-3-1 with a 4-1-0 mark in CUSA play.  

Tanner Beason 

Stanford 

The redshirt junior defender continues to be a difference maker for the Cardinal. Beason  converted a penalty kick and drove a header into the net out of a corner kick in Stanford's 4-2 win over California. Stanford is 6-1-3 overall.  

Josh Bauer

New Hampshire

The sophomore back placed a shot into the right corner of the net in New Hampshire's 1-0 win over Harvard and was part of a stout Wildcat defense that shutout Albany 1-0 to improve to 8-2-1.  

Matthias Frick Duke 

 

The sophomore defender made an impact on both sides of the ball.  He converted a header out of a free kick and was a key part of a defense that shutout Virginia 2-0. Duke improves to 6-3-1.  

Hendrik Hilpert Syracuse

The senior netminder anchored an Orange defense that contained  Akron 3-1 and shutout number one ranked Wake Forest 2-0. Hilpert had an eight save week including a highlight reel stop in the win over the Deacons. Syracuse improves to 4-4-1.
