Sami Sample – Senior – Goalkeeper – Illinois
Sample has been a cornerstone during the spring season as a key ingredient in a tenacious Fighting Illini defense that has only allowed a total of three goals to date.
Sample had an eight save evening over the weekend anchoring an Illinois defense along with backs Aleah Treiterer, Kendra Pasquale, Joanna Verzosa-Dolezal and Ashley Cathro that shutout Indiana 1-0 at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington. Sophomore midfielder Eileen Murphy contributed the game-winning goal in the contest.
Sample and her Illinois teammates improve to 3-2-1 and will seek to add to their win total when they host Big Ten opponents Nebraska on Thursday, March 18 and Ohio State on Sunday, March 21.
