Team of the Week

Notre Dame

The Fighting Irish continued their undefeated season with a 4-2 win against #5 Florida State midweek and then shut out SMU 3-0 on Sunday. Notre Dame’s win against FSU was its fourth win against ranked opposition this season. The Irish were also picked as the #1-ranked team by the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Committee’s initial top 16.

Notre Dame has a bye this week before finishing their season with three straight on the road.

Offensive Player of the Week

Ginny Lackey – Sophomore – Forward – James Madison

Lackey scored all three of James Madison’s goals in their 3-2 win over Louisiana this past weekend. She is now two goals away from her career best (12) with three games to play. Lackey is now tied for the most goals in the Sun Belt this season (10) and leads the conference in goal contributions (10g/5a).

Lackey and James Madison play South Alabama this Friday. South Alabama is currently two points ahead of JMU in the Sun Belt Conference standings.

Defensive Player of the Week

Elise Evans – Senior – Stanford

Evans scored the game-winning goal against Virginia Tech midweek and then played the full 90 for Stanford as they held on to beat #1 Virginia over the weekend. Evans set a new career high (4) with her goal against Virginia Tech, and now has seven goal contributions on the year (4g/3a). Stanford also has the third-fewest goals allowed in the ACC.

Next up for Evans and Stanford is a Thursday night road matchup against Florida State and then another road match against Miami on Sunday.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Molly Pritchard – Senior – Ohio State

Pritchard helped the Buckeyes keep the clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Oregon last Thursday. She then helped Ohio State stay in the mix in a 1-0 loss to Washington, where she made seven saves. The senior goalkeeper now has a 90.7% save rate, which puts her third nationally.

Ohio State and Pritchard start a three-game road trip to end the season on Thursday against Rutgers.

Freshman of the Week

Sariyah Bailey – Forward – LSU

Bailey scored a brace and added an assist in LSU’s 4-1 win over Texas A&M last Friday. She scored her second career game-winning goal in the matchup and now has 10 goal contributions on the year (5g/5a), which leads the Tigers.

Next for Bailey and LSU is a road game at Ole Miss on Thursday before returning home for a Sunday clash against Kentucky.
