College Soccer News – Women’s National Team of The Week – Week Ending October 25, 2020

It was a gut check type of week for teams across the country with big time players making Big Plays under pressure. The College Soccer News Team of the Week recognizes Individual performers on both sides of the Ball who played a key role in the success of their teams during the Week.

Haley Hopkins – Senior – Forward – Vanderbilt – Hopkins, who hails from Newport Beach, California, came up big for the Commodores with a game-winning header in the 88th minute of the match that was set up by a perfect  cross from midfielder Leila Azari. Vanderbilt edged Georgia 1-0 to improve to 3-3-0.  
Lauren Geczik – Freshman – Forward – Texas A and M – Geczik utilized her quickness and touch on the ball to score from six and eight yards out in the first half of play to help power the Aggies past Tennessee 3-1. Texas A and M improves to 4-1-0. 
Grace Collins – Sophomore – Forward – TCU – Collins assisted on the goal scored by teammate Gracie Brian and drove a shot into the far post in overtime to give TCU a 3-2 come from behind win over Kansas State. TCU also had a very good 2-0 win over Kansas.
Kailey Littleford – Freshman – Forward – South Alabama – Littleford had a productive week of play for the Jaguars. She assisted on sophomore Gracie Wilson’s game-winning goal in South Alabama’s 1-0 win over Georgia Southern and scored twice in their 3-0 win over Georgia State. The Jaguars are 8-3-0. 
Camryn Dyke – Senior – Midfielder – Notre Dame – The Irish captain came through under pressure when she converted a penalty kick that was the result of a handball in the box. Dyke was part of a determined Notre Dame effort on both sides of the ball that resulted in a 1-0 win over Louisville. The Irish improve to 4-3-0. 
Kayla McKeon – RS Senior – Midfielder – Arkansas – McKeon netted her third goal in the last four contests when she alertly controlled a deflection and sent it  back into the net from just inside the middle of the top of the box to help the Razorbacks top Ole Miss 2-1 on the road. Arkansas is now 5-1-0.  
Emily Gray – Junior – Midfielder – Virginia Tech – Gray makes good things happen for the Hokies. She contributed the helper on the goals scored by teammates Tori Powell and Allyson Brown to help Virginia Tech top Navy 2-1 on senior day in Blacksburg. The Hokies are 3-7-0.
Hadley Dickinson – Senior – Midfielder – Central Arkansas – Dickinson contributed the golden goal in the second overtime period to give Central Arkansas a 1-0 win over Missouri State. The goal was set up by a nice pass from Abby Gibson that Dickinson ran onto and skillfully finished. UCA improves to 8-2-1. 
Sutton Jones – Junior – Defender – South Carolina – Jones scored twice out of corner kicks to help propel the Gamecocks to a 4-2 win over the Florida Gators. The win was the fifth straignt for South Carolina and the 300th win for South Carolina head coach Shelley Smith.  
Jordan Brewster – Junior – Defender – West Virginia – Brewster was a key part of a solid West Virginia backline that also included Mackenzie Aunkst, Nicole Payne and Gabrielle Robinson that shutout Big 12 foe  Oklahoma 1-0 in Norman. West Virginia is now 6-1-0. 
Julia Grosso – Senior – Defender – Kentucky – Grosso put in a full 110 minute shift on the defensive side of the ball for a bend but don’t break Kentucky defense that resulted in a 1-1 tie on the road with Auburn. The Wildcats are 0-3-3. . 
Emily Plotz – Senior – Goalkeeper – Oklahoma State – Plotz, who is from Merritt Island, Florida was rock solid in goal for Oklahoma State with a five save evening that helped the Cowgirls shutout Texas 2-0. OSU improves to 4-2-1.
