College Soccer News – Women’s National Team of The Week – Week Ending November 8, 2020

The College Soccer News Team of the Week recognizes individuals who played a key role in the success that their teams had during the week.   There were no games this week in women’s ACC play but plenty of action took place in the SEC, Big 12, and Sun Belt Conferences. The ACC Tournament is slated to get underway on Tuesday, November 10. The SEC tournament will begin on Friday, November 13.  

Jordyn Rhodes – Sophomore – Forward – Kentucky – Rhodes scored twice and contributed the helper on teammate Hannah Richardson’s goal to play a key role in Kentucky’s 3-1 win over Florida. The win was Kentucky’s first over the Gators since 2014. Kentucky improves to 1-4-3. 
Grace Collins – Sophomore – Forward – TCU – Collins who is from Houston, Texas  created the space and angle within the box that she needed to send a rocket into the far upper corner of the goal to give TCU the edge they needed to top a very good West Virginia team to claim the program’s first-ever Big 12 Conference title. TCU is 8-0-1.  
Sarah Sodoma – Senior – Forward – Arkansas State – Sodoma was a force on the offensive side of the ball for the Red Wolves who advanced past Appalachian State and  Georgia State before losing to the University of South Alabama 2-1 in the championship game of the Sun Belt Conference Tourney. 
Kirsten Davis – Senior – Forward – Texas Tech – Davis is a goal scorer. This week she drove a shot into the top shelf of the goal from 25 yards out after receiving a pass from teammate Amanda Porter to propel the Red Raiders to a 1-0 a win over rival Texas. Davis now has 12 career goals. Texas Tech is 2-4-2 and will close out the fall season on Friday, November 13 at Kansas State.  
Courtney Powell – Senior – Forward – Iowa State – Powell came through in the clutch scoring with 50 seconds remaining in regulation with an assist from Kenady Adams in Iowa State’s 1-1 tie on the road with Kansas. The contest halted a six match KU win streak against Iowa State. Iowa State concludes fall play with a 2-6-1 record.
Olivia Mack – Freshman – Forward – Baylor – Mack alertly controlled and sent a rebound into the lower left corner of the goal in overtime to enable Baylor to squeak past Oklahoma 1-0. Baylor finishes fall play with a 3-3-3 record. 
Morgan Cross – Junior – Midfielder – South Alabama – Cross who is from Scotland scored twice with a little over five minutes remaining in regulation to enable South Alabama to come from a goal down to defeat a very good Arkansas State team 2-1 in the Sun Belt Tournament championship game. The Jaguars conclude fall play with a 10-3-1 record.  
Mariella Stephens – Freshman – Midfielder – Little Rock – Stephens who is from Argyle, Texas out of Denton Guyer High School scored twice to  propel the Trojans past Georgia Southern 2-1. She also contributed a goal in Little Rocks’ 2-2 double overtime tie with South Alabama. South Alabama then prevailed in a penalty kick  to advance in the Sun Belt Tournament. 
Jimena Lopez – Senior – Defender – Texas A and M – Lopez who hails from Mexico City, Mexico scored the game-winner from just inside the penalty box in Texas A and M’s 2-1 win over LSU on senior night. The Aggies improve to 6-1-0 and will host Auburn on Monday, November 9 in their final fall regular season contest. 
Wrenne French – Senior – Defender – Tennessee – French who is from Franklin, Tennessee sent a header into the back of the frame out of a corner kick put in play by Claudia Dipasupil and was part of a solid Volunteer backline that topped South Carolina 1-0 on senior night in Knoxville. Tennessee improves to 4-3-1. 
Emily Alvarado – Senior – Goalkeeper – TCU – Alvarado who hails from El Paso, Texas was rock solid in goal for TCU with a three save evening in the Horned Frogs win over West Virginia. The shutout was her seventh of the fall season
