College Soccer News National Team Of The Week – Week Ending October 19, 20144

Justin Laird – Senior – Forward – Kentucky  Laird and his Kentucky teammates had a productive week of play.  Laird scored and assisted on teammate Paul Sime's goal to help Kentucky top Evansville 5-1. He also one-timed a cross played in by Stefan Stojkovic into the back of the net to enable the Wildcats to defeat a very good New Mexico team 1-0 in a key CUSA contest. Kentucky is undefeated in their past six matches and now stands at 8-3-3 with a 3-0-2 mark in conference play. 
Markus Naglestad – RS Senior – Forward – Providence Naglestad made good use of his time on the pitch by contributing the insurance goal with a double assist from Mac Steeves and Dominik Machando in Providence's 2-0 win over Georgetown.  He also netted the game-winning goal in Providence's 3-2 victory over St. John's when he placed a shot into the bottom right corner of the net from the top of the box. Naglestad has scored seven times so far this year. The Friars improve to 8-2-1 overall with a 3-0-1 mark in Big East play. 
Guillermo Delgado – Sophomore -Forward – Delaware

Delgado is a playmaker who consistently finds the back of the net for the Blue Hens. He netted the game winning goal in double overtime to propel Delaware past Hofstra 2-1.  He also scored his tenth goal of the 2014 campaign in Delaware's 3-1 win over William and Mary.  The Blue Hens improve to 10-4-0 with a 3-1-0 mark in Colonial Athletic Association play.   

Ben Wignall – Freshman – Forward – Farifield Wignall scored from twelve yards out after receiving a cross from Jake Zuniga to help Fairfield defeat Manhattan 3-2.  Wignall also controlled the rebound of teammate Hrvoje Glaven's shot and slotted in into the goal to give the Stags a 1-0 win over Canisius College. Fairfield is unbeaten in its last five games to improve to 6-3-4 with a 3-1-2 mark in MAAC play. 
Alan Reiter – Senior – Midfielder – Davidson Reiter had a productive week of play for the Wildcats. He fired a shot from fifteen yards out that deflected off the cross bar amd into the net in the 95th minute of play to give Davidson a 2-1 win over the Duke Blue Devils.  His sixth goal of the 2014 campaign came when he alertly placed a rebound of teammate Luke Blades' shot into the back of the net in Davidson's 2-0 win over St. Bonaventure in an A-10 contest. The Wildcats are now 7-1-3 with a 1-1-1 mark in conference action.  
Jason Stacy – Junior – Midfielder – Michigan State Stacy powered a shot into the top right hand corner of the frame from twenty-five yards out and assisted on the goals scored by Zach Carroll and Fatai Alashe to help propell the Spartans past Western Michigan 4-0. He also scored from twenty yards out on a corner kick served in by teammate Dewey Lewis to help Michigan State defeat Penn State 2-0 to improve to 9-2-2 overall with a 3-1-1 mark in what has become a very close Big Ten Conference race.  
Patrick Hodan – Junior – Midfielder – Notre Dame  Hodan's penalty kick gave the Irish the edge they needed to top Northwestern 1-0.  He also displayed his skill with the ball at his feet by creating the space he needed to finish two scoring opportunities in Notre Dame's 4-1 win over ACC foe Duke. Hodan has scored five goals in Notre Dame's last four contests to help the Irish improve to 8-3-2 overall with a 4-1-1 mark in ACC play.  
Tim Schmoll – Junior – Midfielder – Harvard   Schmoll converted a header after receiving a cross from Andrew Chang in Harvard's 3-0 win over Holy Cross.  He also scored Harvard's lone goal with an assist from Kyle Henderson in their 1-1 on the road tie with Ivy League foe Brown.  The Crimson are now unbeaten in their last nine contests to improve to 8-3-1 overall with a 2-0-1 mark in Ancient Eight play. 
Bryan Breslin – Senior – Defender – UC Irvine  Breslin scored the lone goal of the contest when he volleyed a shot into the back of the net that was served in out of a corner kick by Gor Kirakosyan in the Anteater's 1-0 win over Cal State Fullerton in Big West Conference play.  He also was part of a solid UC Irvine defense lead by goalkeeper Michael Breslin that has recorded three consecutive shutouts. UC Irvine improves to 11-1-2 with a 3-1-1 mark in conference play. 
Tim Kubek – Freshman – Defender – Louisville Kubel continues to be a difference maker at Louisville. He converted a penalty kick that proved to be the game winning goal as Louisville topped FGCU 2-1 to halt a four game losing streak.  He also converted a penalty kick and assisted on teammate Jerry Ramirez's game winning goal to play a key role in Louisville's 2-1 upset win over highly regarded Syracuse.  The Cardinals improve to 7-5-1 with a 4-2-0 mark in ACC action.  
Wes Mink – Freshman – Goalkeeper – Oakland Mink anchors a stout Golden Grizzlie defense that has recorded five consecutive shutouts.  He recorded five saves in Oakland's 2-0 win over Milwaukee and five saves in their 2-0 victory over Belmont.  The Golden Grizzlies have won six straight to improve to 6-5-1 with a 5-0-1 record in Horizon League play.
