College Soccer News – National Team of the Week – Week Ending October 1, 2017

Santiago Patino – Junior – Forward – FIU Santiago capitalized on a rebound as the best finishers always do to contribute a goal in FIU's 5-0 win over North Florida and produced two goals in FIU's 4-1 win over FAU.  He contiues to be a force on the offense side of the ball for the Panthers with nine goals and two assists to date. FIU improves to 5-0-3 overall with a 2-0-1 mark in CUSA play.  
Rodney Michael – Freshman – Forward – UCSB Michael slotted a shot into the far post out of a corner kick and contributed assists on the goals scored by teammates Derek Kryzda and Adrian Adames to help the Gauchos top Cal State Fullerton 5-2. He also scored in UCSB's 3-1 win over UC Riverside. The Gauchos have rebounded to win four straight to improve to 4-4-2 overall.  
Elliott Otmani – Senior – Forward – Rider  Otmani scored from eighteen and thiry-five yards out to lead Rider past Monmouth 3-0. He also contributed a goal in Rider's 4-1 victory over Saint Peter's. Otmani has scored in four of the Broncs last five contests. Rider is off and running with a 7-2-0 overall record and a 2-0-0 mark in MAAC play. 
Rex Epps – Sophomore – Forward – Army  Epps netted the game-winner with an assist from Tyler Mitchiner and also provided a helper on teammate Roman Guiseppi's goal in Army's 2-1 win over Sacred Heart. He also contriubuted an assist and scored to help propel the Black Knights past Colgate 2-0 during a contest in which former Army goalkeeper Kevin J. Smith who was killed in combat in 2005 was honored at halftime.  
Chae Brangman – Junior – Forward – Rhode Island Brangman scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in Rhode Island's 2-1 win over Boston College. He also contributed the game-winning goal in Rhode Island's 2-1 win over George Washington with a double assist from Liam Daley and Peder Kristiansen. The Rams are undefeated in their past six contests to stand at 5-2-2 overall.  . 
Brandon Perdue – Freshman – Midfielder – ODU Perdue contributed the assist on Niko Klosterhalfen's goal and scored the insurance tally via a rocket into the left corner of the frame  to help ODU top Kentucky 2-0 in a key CUSA contest. Purdue has scored a total of six goals to date and contributed four assists. ODU is now 6-1-2 overall with a 3-0-0 mark in conference play. 
Ema Twumasi – Sophomore – Midfielder – Wake Forest   Twumasi and his Demon Deacon teammates had a productive week securing a 2-1 win over an always competitive South Carolina team and a 3-2 win in overtime against nationally ranked Clemson in a key ACC contest. Against South Carolina, Twumasi netted the game-winning goal in the 89th minute of play with an assist from Jon Bakero. In the win over Clemson, Twumasi scored twice and Steven Echevarria provided the game-winner.   
Shinya Kadono – Junior – Midfielder – California Kadono sent a header into the back of the net to tally the insurance goal in California's 2-0 on the road win over UCLA.  He also came up big for the Golden Bears when he scored with only eleven seconds remaining in regulation to give California the edge they needed to top San Diego State 1-0 on the road. The Golden Bears have won five straight to improve to 7-2-0 overall with a 2-0-0 mark in Pac-12 play.   
Daniel Krutzen – Junior – Defender – Albany Krutzen alertly and calmly controlled and sent the rebound of teammate Nico Solabarrieta header back into the net to give Albany the edge that they needed to top UMass Lowell in a key America East Conference contest. Krutzen was also part of a solid Great Dane defense that shutout UMass Lowell 1-0. Albany improves to 7-2-0 overall with a 1-0-0 mark in conference play. 
Alex Bangerl – Senior – Defender – Columbia The Columbia cener back converted a penalty kick in the Lion's 3-0 win over a good Brown team and was part of a backline that allowed just two shots on goal in route to recording the shutout. Columbia improves to 5-0-2 and 1-0-0 in Ivy League action.  
Nate Shultz – Senior – Defender – Akron Shultz drove a shot into the back of the net from six yards out with an assist from Nick Hinds and sent a rocket into the back of the goal with a double assist from teammates Skye Harter and Stuart Holthusen to help power Akron past Michigan State 4-1. Akron also topped Saint Mary's 2-1 in overtime to up their record to date to 5-2-1. Shultz was part of a very solid Zip defensive effort in both contests. 
Mario Sequeira – Freshman – Goalkeeper – VCU Sequeira had an impressive seven save evening between the pipes to anchor a bend but don't break Ram defense that shutout a good UNCW team to secure a 1-0 win in overtime despite the fact that the Seahawks had a 22 to 4 advantage in shots. Rafael Andrade Santos netted the game-winning goal for a VCU team that now stands at 3-3-0.
