Gainford and teammate Stuart Holthusen continue to power a high powered Akron offense. Gainford scored from twenty-five yards out and sent a bending ball into the side of the net to contribute two goals in Akron's 3-2 win in overtime over a very good Wisconsin team. Holthusen provided the game-winning goal for the Zips in overtime. Gainford has scored ten goals so far this year and contributed three assists. Holthusen has found the back of the net twelve times and contributed three helpers. Number five seed Akron improves to 18-3-1 and now advances to the Elite Eight where they will face number four seed Louisville on Friday, December 1. |
