The National Team Of The Week Recognizes Players Who Made A significant Contribution To The Success Their Teams Had During The Week

Gino Vivi – Senior – Forward – UCF – Vivi sent a blast into the back of the frame from inside the box and assisted on the game-winning goal scored by sophomore forward Lucca Dourado to help power UCF past Charlotte 2-1. UCF secures a big win in American Athletic Conference play to improve to 6-5-0 overall with a 3-4-0 mark against AAC competition. The Knights continue conference play with a match on the road against Tulsa on Friday.
Finn Ballard McBride – Junior – Forward – UC Santa Barbara – McBride earns a spot on the College Soccer News Team of the Week in back-to-back weeks demonstrating once again that he is a dangerous man to contain with a ball at his feet in the box. He scored with an assist from Rigoberto Barragan and deposited the rebound of Salaudeen Ayinla’s shot into the back of the frame to propel the Gauchos past UC Davis 3-0. McBride also scored the equalizer in the 86th minute of play in UCSB’s closer than anticipated 1-1 tie with Cal Poly in the Blue-Green rivalry match before a crowd of almost 8,000. UCSB improves to 9-2-5 with a 4-0-3 mark in Big West play.
Alexander PetrauesAlexander Petraeus – Freshman – Forward – SMU – Petraeus was a difference maker on the offensive side of the ball for the Mustangs in a 3-1 win over South Florida. Petraeus contributed his eighth assist on the season on freshman forward Fredrik Skilberg’s goal and drove a shot into the left side netting from the right side of the box that was set up by a nice combination of passes between John Paul Frenandez and Knut Ahlander. The Mustangs up their record to 9-3-1 overall with a 5-2-0 mark in AAC play.
Mason Duval 2022 HeadshotMason Duval – Senior – Forward – Elon – Duval utilized his left foot to send a shot into the bottom right corner of the goal to score what proved to be the game-winner in Elon’s 3-0 win over North Carolina. Junior forward Jack Dolk also scored twice in the contest. The win over the Tar Heels was the first ever for Elon. Duval also converted a header out of a corner kick served in by senior defender Kasper Lehm in Elon’s subsequent 3-2 win over the College of Charleston in a CAA matchup. Elon is 10-3-2 overall with a 6-1-1 mark in conference play.
Brandon Morales 2022 HeadshotBrandon Morales – Senior – Midfielder – Cornell – Morales had a very productive week for the Big Red. He contributed an assist on the goals scored by defenders Connor Drought and Henry Hylbert in Cornell’s win over Binghamton and scored and assisted on both of the goals scored by defender Kisa Kiingi in Cornell’s 3-1 on the road win over Ivy League foe Princeton. Cornell gets back on track and improves to 11-3-0 with a 3-1-0 mark in Ancient Eight play. The Big Red resume Ivy League play when they host Dartmouth on Saturday.
de Flores, ShaneShane de Flores – Redshirt Freshman – Midfielder – Stanford – de Flores helped the Cardinal secure two solid on the road Pac-12 wins. He scored the opening goal in UCLA’s 3-2 win over San Diego State with a double assist from Connor Evans and Cam Cilley and contributed an assist on Jackson Kiil’s goal. He also scored the lone goal in Stanford’s 1-0 win over UCLA. Stanford improves to 9-1-4 overall with a 3-1-3 mark in Pac-12 play. Things don’t get any easier for the Cardinal who continue Pac-12 play when they host Oregon State on Thursday and Washington on Sunday.
Daniel NimickDaniel Nimick – Senior – Defender – Western Michigan – Nimick sent a header into the back of the frame out of a corner kick served in by midfielder Eric Conerty in Western Michigan’s 3-0 win over Oakland while also putting in a solid 90 minute performance on the defensive side of the ball. He also scored from within the box after making a move to create the angle he needed to place a shot into the back of the frame in Western Michigan’s subsequent 2-0 win over Wright State while again putting in a full 90 minutes of play on the defensive side of the ball. The Broncos improve to 11-2-1 with a 3-1-1 mark in MAC play. They return to the pitch on Saturday with a match on the road against Chicago State.
Josh Jones – Sophomore – Defender – Louisville – Jones made an impact in both of Louisville’s contests. He was active on the offensive side of the ball and put in a full ninety minute shift on the defense side of the ball in Louisville’s 1-1 tie with ETSU. He was part of a bend but don’t break Louisville defense and netted the lone goal in the Cardinals subsequent 1-0 ACC win over Clemson. The Cardinals are 9-3-3 overall with a 4-2-1 mark in conference play. They close out regular season play with a game against Wake Forest in Winston Salem on Friday.
ClarkBrendan Clark – Senior – Defender – UC Riverside – Clark contributed on both sides of the ball for the Highlanders in two Big West Conference contests during the week. He contributed a helper on the goal scored by senior midfielder Oscar Penate and put in a full ninety minutes of play in UC Riverside’s 1-1 tie with Cal State Fullerton and scored his sixth goal of the season and contributed as assist on the goal scored by freshman midfielder Alfonso Ramirez to play a key role in UC Riversides’ 2-0 win over CSU Bakersfield. UC Riverside is 5-7-4 with a 4-2-2 mark in conference play. They close out regular season play when they host UC Santa Barbara on Saturday.
Alberto Suarez – Graduate Student – Defender Saint Louis – Suarez converted a header with an assist from midfielder Lane Warrington and scored out of a throw in with a double assist from Warrington and Max Floriani within a seven minute span of play in the Billikens 3-1 win over Dayton in a key Atlantic 10 conference contest. He also put in a full 90 minutes of play on the defensive side of the ball. Saint Louis improves to 9-4-1 with a 5-1-1 mark in conference play. The Billikens close out regular season play when they host A-10 foe Saint Joseph’s on Saturday.
Niclas WildNiclas Wild – Junior – Goalkeeper – UNCG – Wild had a seven save evening including a stop of a penalty kick to anchor a stout Spartan defense that shutout Mercer in a Southern Conference contest. The shutout was Wild’s fifth and UNCG’s sixth of the season. The Spartans enhance their record to 10-1-4 with a 3-0-1 mark in conference play. UNCG resumes Southern Conference play on Saturday against Wofford on the road.
