Difference Makers Emerged From A Week Of Key Contests Coast To Coast.

Aadne Bruseth – Junior – Forward – Missouri State – Bruseth had a very productive week of play contributing three assists in the Bears 3-2 win over Drake and scoring what proved to be the game-winning goal in Missouri State’s 2-0 win over a very good Loyola Chicago team. Missouri State improves to 7-0-0 with a 6-0-0 mark in MVC play.
Paul Mayer – Graduate Student – Forward – New Hampshire – Mayer scored twice to help lead New Hampshire in a 4-0 win over previously undefeated Hartford. The Wildcats improve to 4-0-1 with a 3-0-1 mark in America East Conference play.
Maximilian Moeller – Freshman – Forward – Grand Canyon – Moeller scored three times in the second half of play to give Grand Canyon the firepower they needed on the offensive side of the ball to top Dixie State 5-1. Moeller is among the reasons why Grand Canyon is off to a banner 6-0-0 start.
Alex Meinhard – Redshirt Freshman – Forward – Tulsa – Meinhard scored from twenty yards out and added what proved to the game-winner with a double assist from teammates Malik Henry-Scott and Will Edwards in Tulsa’s 2-1 win over SMU in a key AAC contest. The Golden Hurricane are 5-1-1 overall. They return to the pitch on Friday with an AAC contest in Philadelphia against Temple.
Thorleifur Ulfarsson – Freshman – Forward – Duke – Ulfarsson added a ton of firepower to Duke’s attack with a three goal evening that yielded an impressive 3-1 win on the road over a very good Virginia team. The Blue Devils improve to 4-9-2 and look to be a team that is gaining momentum.
Callum Johnson – Senior – Midfielder – Clemson – Johnson contributed the helper on teammate Quinn McNeill’s goal and then came up big for the Tigers when he netted what proved to be the game-winning goal in Clemson’s 3-2 win over a talented Boston College team. The Tigers showed a lot of grit to come from behind to secure an ACC win on the road. Clemson improves to 11-2-1.
Ethan Taylor – Freshman – Midfielder – James Madison – Taylor helped power the Dukes with a two goal effort that produced a 2-1 Colonial Athletic Conference win on the road over the College of Charleston. JMU improves to 3-0-1 overall with a 2-0-0 mark in CAA action. The Dukes will take to the road again to face William and Mary in Williamsburg on Friday, April 2.
Omar Hernandez – Sophomore – Midfielder – Wake Forest – Hernandez who is from Dalton, Georgia came through in the clutch for the Demon Deacons scoring out of a free kick and calmly converting a penalty kick in overtime to give Wake Forest the edge they needed to prevail 2-1 over Louisville. The Deacons are 11-2-1 overall with a 3-0-1 mark in ACC play.
Alex Mirsberger – Redshirt Sophomore – Defender – Marquette – Mirsberger who hails from Brookfield, Wisconsin was a solid contributor on both sides of the ball for the Golden Eagles. He converted a game-winning header in overtime out of a free kick served in by teammate Zyan Andrade in Marquette’s 2-1 win over DePaul. He also put in a solid shift on the defensive side of the ball in that contest as well as in Marquette’s subsequent 1-0 win over Butler. The Golden Eagles are 8-1-1 with a 5-1-1 mark in Big East play.
Maurice Williams – Junior – Defender – Seton Hall – Williams scored out of a corner kick put in play by James Boote to give the Pirates the edge they needed to top UConn 1-0 in a Big East Conference contest. Williams is part of a bend but don’t break Seton Hall defense that posted its fifth clean sheet of the spring campaign. The Pirates are 7-1-3 overall with a 5-1-2 mark in Big East competition.
Collin Travasos – Redshirt Freshman – Goalkeeper – California – Travasos anchored a very solid and gutsy California defense that secured a 0-0 scoreless tie with Stanford and shutout Oregon State 1-0. Travasos had five saves in the game with Stanford and five saves in the win over Oregon State. The Golden Bears are undefeated in their last four contests and are now 3-3-1 overall.
