College Soccer News – Men’s National Team Of The Week – Week Ending February 21, 2021

The College Soccer News Team Of The Week Recognizes Individuals Who Were Difference Makers During The Third Week Of The 2021 Spring Season.

Gloire Amanda – Junior – Forward – Oregon State – Amanda earns a spot on the CSN National Team of the Week for the second week in a row after contributing two goals in Oregon State’s 2-1 on the road win over highly regarded Pac-12 foe Washington. The Beavers are off to a 4-0-0 start.
Mike Melaragni – Junior – Forward – Western Michigan – Melaragni scored both goals in Western Michigan’s season opening 2-0 win on the road at Butler. Defender Daniel Nimick contributed the helper on the first goal. Midfielders Charlie Sharp and Pepe Martinez-Bertrand were credited with a double-assist on the second.
Victor Bezerra – Sophomore – Forward – Indiana – Bezerra was a force on the offensive side of the ball for the Hoosiers. He capitalized on the opportunities that came his way contributing two impressive goals in the first half of play to lead Indiana in a 3-0 season opening win over the Wisconsin Badgers. The Hoosiers will host Big Ten foe Ohio State on Tuesday, February 23.
Ivy Brisma – Junior – Forward – North Carolina State – Brisma scored unassisted and contributed the helper on teammate Kuda Muskwe’s goal to play a key role in NC State’s spring season opening 2-0 win over UAB. The Wolfpack will seek to build on that win when they travel to Richmond to face VCU on Wednesday, February 24.
Kengo Ohira – Sophomore – Midfielder – Denver – Ohira had a productive week of play during which he helped Denver secure back-to-back wins over Summit League foe Western Illinois. He scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in Denver’s 2-0 season opener and contributed the insurance goal in their subsequent 2-0 victory with a double assist from teammates Destan Norman and Griffin Meyer. The Pioneers will host Oral Roberts on Thursday, March 4.
Peter Mangione – Freshman – Midfielder – Penn State – Mangione provided the assist on teammate Andrew Privett’s goal and also scored what provided to be the game-winning goal in Penn State’s season opening 3-2 win over Maryland. The Nittany Lions now travel to tangle with Rutgers on Tuesday, February 23 in the first of two meetings between the two teams during the spring season.
Chris Sullivan – Senior – Midfielder – Bowling Green – Sullivan assisted on the goals scored by teammates Kyle Cusimano and Jacob Erlandson and also contributed a goal to play a key role in the Falcons 3-2 season opening come from behind victory over Dayton. Bowling Green now takes to the road to tangle with Syracuse on Tuesday, February 23 in Buffalo, New York.
Jackson Temple – Sophomore – Midfielder – Rutgers – Temple was a playmaker contributing the assist on the goals scored by teammates Ritchie Barry and Colin Beasley in Rutgers 2-0 season opening win over Michigan State. The Scarlet Knights host Penn State on Tuesday, February 23.
Christopher Roman – Junior – Midfielder – Providence – Roman assisted on the goal scored by teammate Gage Raftery and scored in the Friars impressive 4-0 season opening win over Rhode Island. Providence will travel to Storrs to square off with Big East opponent Connecticut on Saturday, February 27.
Keegan Tingey – Sophomore – Defender – Stanford – Tingey had a two assist and one goal evening in Stanford’s 5-0 season opening win over San Francisco. He also put in a solid shift on the defensive side of the ball to help the Cardinal top California 3-1 on the road to secure a win in Pac-12 play. Stanford will travel to San Diego to face San Diego State on Saturday, February 27.
Jake Ronneberg – Redshirt Sophomore – Defender -Creighton – Ronneberg came through in the clutch for the Bluejays when he scored out of a corner kick in the 105th minute of play to give Creighton the edge they needed to top a good Marquette team 2-1 inside the Valley Fields dome in Milwaukee.
TJ Bush – Redshirt Senior – Goalkeeper – James Madison – Bush was rock solid in goal for JMU recording six saves in their season opening scoreless draw with a good Liberty team. James Madison will face George Mason on the road on Saturday, February 27, 2021.
