Difference Makers Emerged To Play A key Role In Their Teams Success In A Week Of Key Contests Coast To Coast.

Victor Menudier – Senior – Forward – New Hampshire – Menudier played a key role in New Hampshire’s third consecutive America East Tournament title scoring both goals in their 2-0 win over Hartford and netting the second of their two goals in a 2-0 win over Vermont in the championship match. Vermont improves to 8-0-1 and earns a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season.
Victor Bezerra – Sophomore – Forward – Indiana – Bezerra continues to add punch to IU’s attack scoring twice in their 2-0 win over Maryland in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tourney and adding a goal in their 1-1 match with Penn State in the championship contest in which IU prevailed in pks. Indiana claims the Big Ten Tournament title and improves to 9-1-1.
David Coly – Junior – Forward – American – Coly has now found the back of the net in four consecutive contests. He netted the game-winning goal in the Eagles 3-2 win over Loyola Maryland in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tourney and sent a header into the back of the frame out of a corner kick in their 2-1 win over previously undefeated Lafayette in the championship match. Colby was named the MVP of the Patriot League Tournament.
Julian Gomez – Sophomore – Forward – Monmouth – Gomez created momentum for the Hawks when he scored early on in their 2-0 win over Rider in the semifinals of the MAAC Tournament. He also converted a header after receiving a cross from midfielder Nick Rogers to give Monmouth the edge they needed to top Quinnipiac 1-0 in the tournament final. The Hawks improve to 5-2-1 and are back in the NCAA Tournament field for the first time since 2014.
Mani Austmann – Sophomore – Forward – UNCG – Austmann made a nice move off the dribble to create the space and angle that he needed to socre what proved to be the game-winning goal in the Spartans 1-0 win over a determined Belmont team in the Southern Conference Tournament final. He also contributed the helper on teammate Theo Collomb’s goal in UNCG’s 2-2 win over ETSU in the tournament semifinal. The Spartans under head coach Chris Rich improve to 9-2-2 and move forward to the NCAA Tourney.
Quinn Matulis – Sophomore – Midfielder – Air Force – Matulis had a productive week of play assisting on teammate Jake Angelletti’s game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over UTRGU in the WAC semifinals and scoring and contributing a helper in their 3-0 upset win over Grand Canyon in the WAC Tournament title match. All together he had three assists and a goal during the WAC tournament. The Falcons secure their first ever WAC Tournament title and improve to 7-4-1.
Pablo Gratton – JuniorMidfielder – Milwaukee – Gratton provided the game-winning goals in Milwaukee’s 2-1 win over UIC in the semifinals of the Horizon League Tournament and their 1-0 win over Northern Kentucky in the championship contest. Milwaukee wins its first Horizon League title since 2013.
Maurice Williams – Junior – Defender – Seton Hall – Williams contributed on both sides of the ball for the Pirates scoring twice including the game-winning goal in Seton Hall’s 4-1 win over Marquette in the semifinals of the Big East Tournament. He was also a key ingredient in a very stout Pirate defense in their 2-1 win over highly regarded Georgetown in the tournament final. Seton Hall wins the Big East Tournament championship for the first time since 1991.
Matt Sloan – Graduate Student – Defender – Fordham – Sloan was a key contributor for the Rams scoring Fordham’s first goal in their 2-1 victory over Saint Louis in the Atlantic 10 Tournament semifinals. He also was responsible for what proved to be the game-winning goal with an assist from freshman defender Galen Flynn in Fordham’s 2-0 win over George Washington in the A-10 tournament championship match. The Rams improve to 7-0-2 and secure their fourth conference title and fifth invite to the NCAA Tourney.
Charlie Arsensio – Junior – Defender – Clemson – Arsensio was a key ingredient in a very solid Clemson defense that held a multi-dimensional Pittsburgh offense to only three shots on goal in the Tigers 2-0 win over Pittsburgh. Clemson is unbeaten in 25 consecutive contests at Historic Riggs field. The number one ranked Tigers improve to 13-3-2.
Yannik Oettl – Senior – Goalkeeper – UCF – Oettl anchored a UCF defense that advanced past SMU in a penalty kick shootout in the semifinals of the AAC Tournament and Tulsa 1-0 in the finals to secure an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. He had nine saves in the contest with SMU and five in the match with Tulsa.
Callum James – Sophomore – Goalkeeper – St. Francis College Brooklyn – James stood tall in goal for the Terriers with three consecutive stops that gave St. Francis the edge they needed to prevail 6-5 in a penalty kick shootout over Long Island University in the NEC Tournament championship match after the contest was scoreless after 110 minutes of play. James also converted a pk in the shootout. The Terriers improve to 5-1-2.
