Week 6 had several standout performances for women’s soccer, and while the top of the table remains largely unchanged, there was plenty of movement in the top 20 of the United Soccer Coaches poll as teams look to solidify their place in the rankings. #21 Georgia had a strong week with two wins, helping them climb into the top 20. Rice’s Leah Chancey kept her goalscoring streak going. Iowa got two conference wins with the help of its veteran defender Price Loposer, and TCU’s Olivia Geller had a strong performance in goal.
Here are our women’s soccer awards for Week 6:
Team of the Week
Georgia
Georgia had two SEC wins last week with a 1-0 home win against Kentucky and then traveling to Ole Miss and leaving with a 4-1 result. They are now 3-0-0 in the SEC and are tied with #7 Arkansas in the conference. Georgia has an impressive +22 goal differential through 11 games, which leads the SEC, and have scored the third most goals in the conference (27).
Next up is a home matchup versus Florida on Friday.
Offensive Player of the Week
Leah Chancey – Graduate Student – Midfielder – Rice
Chancey has been one of the most consistent goal producers this season. She is in the top 10 in Division I in both goals scored (8) and assists (7). This past week, she scored the game-winner against Florida Atlantic and was then involved in all three of Rice’s goals against Grambling (1g/2a). The graduate student midfielder has now scored in six consecutive games and has contributed to multiple goals in a game five times this season.
Next up for Chancey and Rice is a road game versus Temple on Thursday before returning home to host Memphis on Sunday.
Defensive Player of the Week
Price Loposer – Graduate Student – Iowa
Loposer scored her first goal of the season at Purdue last Thursday and then helped Iowa keep its sixth clean sheet of the season on Sunday versus Minnesota. Loposer has been one of Iowa’s most consistent starters this season, averaging over 76 minutes per contest.
Iowa has a big-time matchup on Thursday as they travel to face #20-ranked Wisconsin and then continue their road stint on Sunday at Nebraska.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Olivia Geller – Sophomore – TCU
Geller made her fourth start of the campaign this past week against Utah and kept the clean sheet, making four saves, helping TCU get its first Big 12 Conference win of 2025. It was the sophomore’s second clean sheet of the season. Geller now has an 8-1-1 record in her 10 career starts.
Freshman of the Week
Hailey Gordon – Forward – Georgia
Gordon scored her first career goal and brace on the road last Sunday against Ole Miss, including the game-winner. She clearly likes to contribute in bunches, as her first career assists came against North Florida earlier this year when she had two in that game. Gordon has not earned regular starter minutes, but she has taken advantage of an expanding role, earning over 30 minutes in six straight games.
