Rex Epps – Sophomore – Forward – Army | Epps who hails from Irmo, South Carolina scored twice to help power Army past Fairfield 3-0. He netted his first goal after receiving a cross from Keenan O'Shea. His second goal was set up by a pass from teammate Shaban Abousaud. Epps has socred four goals in Army's three contests to date. The Black Knights are 3-0-0 and off to their best start since the 2013 season. | |
Foster Langsdorf – Senior – Forward – Stanford | Langsdorf earns a repeat spot on the CSN National Team of the Week. The Cardinal forward found the back of the net twice to help Stanford top Creighton 3-0 before a sellout crowed at Cagan Stadium. Langsdorf drove a shot into the back of the frame after teammate Corey Baird made a good move and pass to set up the goal. Langsdorf also controlled and sent a deflection back into the net with a double assist from Baird and Drew Skundrich. On Sunday, Langsdorf scored the lone goal in Standford's 1-0 win over Northeastern. | |
Jad Arslan – Senior – Midfielder – West Virginia | Arslan scored twice to play a key role in West Virginia's 4-1 win over Wright State. Arslan has scored a total of four goals so far this year including the game-winner in all of West Virginia's three victories. The Mountaineers will seek to keep their unbeaten streak alive when they welcome Monmouth to Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Labor Day. | |
Ian McGrath – Senior – Midfielder – Evansville | McGrath converted a header after receiving a pass from Chris Shuck and alertly controlled and drove a rebound of a shot into the back of the frame in overtime to lead the Purple Aces past Milwaukee 3-2. McGrath has netted four goals and contributed two assists in Evansville's three contests this year. The Purple Aces are 3-0-0. | |
Luis Argudo – Senior – Midfielder – Wake Forest | Argudo scored twice and added a helper in Wake Forest's 4-1 win on the road over Saint Louis. He scored out of a throw-in with a double assist from defemder Logan Gdula and forward Jon Bakero. Argudo also slotted a shot into the far past from inside the box with a double assit from midfielders Brad Dunwell and Brandon Servania. He also contributed an assist on Jon Bakero's score. | |
Danny Kierath – Junior – Midfielder – Furman | Kierath drove a shot into the left-hand corner of the net with a little over a minute left to play in the second overtime period to give Furman a 1-0 on the road win over Denver. The goal was set up by a long pass from Rocky Guerra. Furman also topped a good Air Force team 1-0 to improve their record to 3-0-0. | |
Wouter Verstraaten – Junior – Defender – Pacific | Verstraaten played a key role on both sides of the ball helping Pacific defeat Virginia Tech 1-0 on Friday and to come from behind to top a determined James Madison team 2-1 on Sunday. Verstraaten scored the lone goal in the win over Virginia Tech. He also alertly capitalized on a defensive miscue to net the game-winning goal in the contest with James Madison. The Tigers up their record to 4-0-0. | |
Alexis Souahy – Senior – Defender – Bowling Green | The BGSU team captain and center back is a rock solid part of the Bowling Green defense that has not allowed a goal in four games this year. This week the Falcons topped Cleveland State 2-0, Drexel 3-0 and Penn 2-0 to improve to 4-0-0. Souahy also contributed a goal in the wins over Drexel and Penn. | |
Hjalmar Ekdal – Freshman – Defender – UNCW | Ekdal headed in a corner kick served in by junior midfielder David Lozano to give the Seahawks the edge they needed to upset highly regarded North Carolina 1-0 in front of a crowd of 1,778 fans at the UNCW Soccer Stadium in Wilmington. Ekdal was also solid on the defensive side of the ball. The Seahawks remain unbeaten with a 3-0-0 record. | |
Tim Kubel – Senior – Defender – Louisville | Kubel continues to come up with big plays for the Cardinals. He scored the lone goal in Louisville's 1-0 win over Butler when he scored from eighteen yards out after receiving a cross from Tate Smith. Kubel also converted a penalty kick to give Louisville the edge they needed to defeat Georgia State on the road. He also has been a part of a solid Louisville defense that has allowed only one goal in three games to date. | |
Nacho Miras – RS Sophomore – Goalkeeper – Valpo | Miras came up with the big saves in goal that he needed to make to give Valparaiso University the opportunity to defeat Loyola Chicago 2-1 in their inagural Missouri Valley Contest and DePaul 2-1 to secure the Chicago Classic title. Miras had four saves in the win over Loyola Chicago and an eight save evening in the victory over DePaul. Valpo improves to 2-1-1. |
