| Maggie Cagle – Freshman – Forward – Virginia – Cagle had a productive week of soccer for the Cavaliers. She scored the insurance goal in Virginia’s 3-1 win over Xavier in the second round of the NCAA Tournament and provided a helper on the equalizer scored by Maya Carter and Hayley Hopkins’ game-winner in overtime in Virginia’s subsequent 3-2 win over number two seed Penn State in State College. Cagle who has 4 goals and 10 assists on the season adds an additional dimension to an explosive Cavalier offense. Virginia improves to 16-3-3 and will face number one seed UCLA in the Elite Eight on Saturday in Los Angeles. |
| Michelle Cooper – Sophomore – Forward – Duke – Cooper netted her school-record sixth brace of the season to power Duke past South Carolina 2-1 in the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Duke also topped Texas 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Devils improve to 15-4-3 and advance to the Elite Eight on Friday where they will face Alabama in Tuscaloosa in what shapes up to be an excellent college soccer contest. |
| Jessica De Filippo – Senior – Forward – Arkansas – De Filippo scored twice and contributed an assist on the goal scored by Zoe Susi as Arkansas advanced past Memphis in a penalty kick shootout in the third round of the NCAA Tournament after the contest was tied at 3-3 after 110 minutes of play. De Filippo also scored and assisted on Anna Podojil’s goal in the Razorbacks 5-2 win over Ohio State in the second round. Arkansas improves to 13-3-5 and advances to the Elite Eight where they will face Florida State in Tallahassee on Saturday. |
| Mya Jones – Senior – Midfielder – Memphis – Jones drove a shot into the upper shelf of the goal in Memphis’ 4-0 win over Mississippi State. She also drove the rebound of Saora Miller’s shot into the back of the frame to net the equalizer that tied the score at 3-3 and sent Memphis and Arkansas into overtime. Arkansas ultimately prevailed in a penalty kick shootout after the match remained 3-3 at the conclusion of 110 minutes of play. Jones concluded the season with a team leading nine goals and two assists. Memphis concludes a productive season in the Sweet Sixteen with an 11-5-6 record. |
| Avery Patterson – Junior – Midfielder – North Carolina – Patterson assisted on the goal scored by midfielder Talia Dellaperuta in UNC’s 3-1 win over Georgia. She followed that up by providing a helper on the goal scored by Dellaperuta and on both of the goas scored by forward Maddie Dahlien in the Tar Heels 3-2 win over BYU. North Carolina improves to 18-4-1 and advances to the Elite Eight for the 16th time since the tournament field was expanded to 64 teams in 2001. Patterson has 11 goals and 8 assists on the season. |
| Felicia Knox – Junior – Midfielder – Alabama – Knox makes good things happen for the Tide. She served in a corner kick that was deflected into the goal by a Portland player in Alabama’s 2-1 win over the Pilots. She scored out of a corner kick and converted a penalty kick after drawing a foul in the box to lead the Tide past a determined UC Irvine team 3-1 in the Sweet Sixteen. Alabama improves to 22-2-1 and advances to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history. Knox has eight goals and 19 assists on the season. |
| Korbin Albert – Sophomore – Midfielder – Notre Dame – Albert scored Notre Dame’s first two goals and provided the helper on Kiki Van Zanten’s goal to help power the Irish past Santa Clara 4-0. The Irish then advanced past TCU 2-0 in the Sweet Sixteen to punch their ticket to the Elite Eight where they will host fellow ACC member North Carolina on Saturday. Notre Dame is now 17-2-3. Albert has 16 goals and 5 assists on the season. |
| Onyi Echegini – Senior – Midfielder – Florida State – Echegini converted a header out of a corner put in play by Jenna Nighswonger in FSU’s 4-1 win over LSU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament and contributed an assist on the goals scored by Beata Olsson and Jody Brown in the Seminoles third round 3-0 win over Pittsburgh. The number one seeded Seminoles improve to 16-2-3 and advance to the Elite Eight where they will host number three seeded Arkansas on Saturday. |
| Madelyn Desiano – Graduate Student – Defender – UCLA – Desiano put in a full shift on the defensive side of the ball for the Bruins who advanced past UCF in a penalty kick shootout after the score was tied 1-1 and in their subsequent 2-0 win over Northwestern. She was also credited with the game-winning goal in UCLA’s 2-0 win over Northwestern in the Sweet Sixteen. Number one seed UCLA improves to 19-2-1 and advances to the Eight where they will host number three seed Virginia on Saturday with a trip to the College Cup on the line. |
| Katie Groff – Junior – Defender – Duke – Groff contributed on both sides of the ball for the Blue Devils. She scored out of a corner kick put in play by midfielder Mackenzie Pluck to net the lone goal in Duke’s 1-0 win over Texas in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She also put in a full ninety minute shift on the defensive side of the ball in Duke’s 2-1 win over number three seed South Carolina in the third round of play. Number two seed Duke improves to 15-4-3 and advances to the Elite Eight to face number one seed Alabama on the road. |
| Caroline DeLisle – Redshirt Senior – Goalkeeper – UCF – DeLisle had an eight save evening in goal including two saves in a penalty kick shootout to help UCF advance past NC State after the contest was tied 1-1 after 110 minutes of play. She also had a rock solid nine save performance in goal in UCF’s subsequent heartbreaking loss to UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen in a game that was decided by a penalty kick shootout after it was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and overtime. DeLisle ends the season with nine shutouts and a 0.70 goals against average. UCF concludes a successful season with a 9-2-7 record. |
