Vanderbilt
After their seven game winning streak was snapped with a 1-1 draw in Athens against the Georgia Bulldogs, Vanderbilt responded with a 5-0 win over Texas A&M. The response showed just how dominant the Commodores have been this season averaging nearly four goals scored per game.
Offensive Player of the Week
Ella Jablinskey – Junior – Forward – Michigan
Ella Jablinskey and the Wolverines pulled off a bigtime upset against their in-state rivals Michigan State this past weekend. Jablinskey contributed to all three of Michigan’s goals (2g/1a) including scoring the game winner. The junior is off to a career start this season with five goal contributions (4g/1a) in eight games.
Defensive Player of the Week
Izzi Stratton – Senior – Centerback – North Carolina
Izzi Stratton and the Tar Heels battled it out with their bitter rivals Duke and came out on top. Stratton scored the game winner and helped UNC defend their lead to oust the No. 2 ranked Blue Devils.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Madi Munguia – Junior – Alabama
After giving up six goals against Harvard a couple weeks back Madi Munguia and Alabama responded with back-to-back clean sheets. Munguia had five saves against Arkansas this past Friday adding to the five-save shutout she had the week before against rivals Auburn.
Freshman of the Week
Peyton Marinos – Forward – Stanford
Peyton Marinos is yet to earn a start for Stanford but she had back-to-back appearances with 50 or more minutes and scored the winner against Wake Forest on Sunday. The win against the No. 3 ranked Demon Deacons got The Cardinal back on track after two straight losses.
