Bryan Dowd – senior – Goalkeeper – Notre Dame
Dowd stood tall in goal for the Irish with a seven save game including a crucial stop during a penalty kick shootout in which Notre Dame prevailed 4-2 after their Sweet Sixteen contest with a talented Western Michigan team was scoreless at the conclusion of 110 minutes of play.
Dowd had a stellar evening between the pipes for the Irish who survive and advance to the Elite Eight where they will host Indiana on Saturday in what promises to be a great college soccer matchup with a trip to the College Cup on the line.
Dowd is a three-year starter and team leader who anchors an Irish defense that has a 0.63 goals against average, has allowed a total of only 12 goals, and has posted eleven shutouts on the season.
