College Soccer News National Player Of The Week – Week Ending October 6, 2013

Harrison Shipp – Senior – Forward – Notre Dame –

Shipp played a key role in two key Notre Dame wins this week to become the first player to be named the College Soccer News National Player of the Week twice in the same season since former Fighting Irish great Joseph Lapira in 2006. Shipp scored two unassisted goals to lead Notre Dame to a 2-1 win over a very good Clemson team at historic Riggs Field before a crowd of over 3,000 fans.  Notre Dame mentor Bobby Clark stated, "What can you say about Harry (Shipp)?  He's an unbelievable player.  He's always played well for us, but this is the best he's ever played"  Clark added, "He's a captain and a great senior and he's a great example to all of our players."

The Irish captain also contributed the helpers on the goals scored by junior forward Vince Cicciarelli and sophomore midfielder Patrick Hodan in Notre Dame's 2-0 win over an always tough Indiana University team.

The Fighting Irish have another tough match in front of them when they host the University of Maryland on Tuesday, October 8 at 7 p.m. eastern time in a game that will be broadcast live by the ACC Digital Network and that can also be seen without cost on College Soccer News.
