| Bertin Jacquesson – Sophomore – Forward – Pittsburgh – Jacquesson was the catalyst on the offensive side of the ball for the Panthers in their 5-1 win over Northern Illinois. He sent a rocket into the back of the net from inside the box after running onto a perfect pass from freshman midfielder Guilherme Feitosa. He also assisted on the goals scored by Feitosa, Valentin Noel and Alexander Dexter. Pitt advances to the third round of the NCAA Tournament where they will host Hofstra on Saturday. |
| Assane Ben Fall – Sophomore – Forward – LIU – Fall made a move down the left side of the pitch with less than two minutes remaining in regulation and lofted a shot from outside the top left corner of the box that found its way into the upper right shelf of the net to give LIU the edge they needed to upset Maryland 1-0. Fall’s goal will belong on any highlight reel of the 2021 NCAA Tournament. LIU’s season subsequently came to an end with a 12-5-4 overall record when they were defeated 5-1 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament by Saint Louis. |
| Kyle Holcomb – Senior – Forward – Wake Forest – Holcomb scored both of Wake Forest’s goals in their 2-1 come from behind over Mercer in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. He also converted his 12th goal of the season (his 33rd career goal) to help the Deacon Deacons top FIU in Miami 3-2 in the second round. Wake Forest is now 13- 6-1 and travels to face Notre Dame in South Bend on Sunday in the Sweet Sixteen. |
| John Klein – Junior – Midfielder – Saint Louis – Klein got the Billikens off on the front foot when he scored in the 4th and 15th minutes of play to help propel Saint Louis to a commanding 5-1 win over LIU before an enthusiastic crown of 6,815 who were on hand at Robert R. Hermann Stadium to witness the match. Saint Louis improves to 15-0-4 and advances to the Sweet Sixteen where they will face Duke in Durham. |
| Dylan Teves – Junior – Midfielder – Washington – Teves is a playmaker who can score in multiples. He found the back of the net three times to help power Washington past Portland 3-1 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies improve to 15-1-2 and advance to the Sweet Sixteen on Saturday where they will host Indiana. |
| Hendrik Hebbeker – Senior – Midfielder – Hofstra – Hebbeker scored from the center of the box after receiving a pass from Matthew Vowinkel and assisted on the goal Vowinkel scored in Hofstra’s 4-2 come from two goals down win over Lipscomb. He followed that up with two goals and an assist to help power Hofstra past a good Penn State team 8-2 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Pride improves to 18-1-2 and advances to the Sweet Sixteen on Saturday where they will square off with Pitt in what looks to be a very exciting something has to give college soccer contest. |
| Paddy Burns – Sophomore – Defender – Notre Dame – Burns contributed on both sides of the ball for the Irish in their 3-0 win over Villanova in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Burns alertly headed the rebound of Jack Lynn’s header into the frame and contributed the assist on Lynn’s goal. He was also part of a part of a rock solid Irish defense. Notre Dame improves to 13-5-3 and will host ACC foe Wake Forest in the third round on Sunday. |
| Oskar Agren – Junior – Defender – Clemson – Agren converted a penalty kick in the 108th minute of play to give the Tigers the edge they needed to top Denver 1-0 to advance to the Sweet Sixteen where they will host Kentucky on Sunday. Agren was also part of a solid Clemson backline that held Denver to a total of only four shots in route to recording the shutout. |
| Spencer Glass – Redshirt Senior – Defender – Indiana – Spenser made the run he needed to make off the ball and sent a left-footed blast into the net after receiving a pass from Herbert Endeley to net Indiana’s second goal in their 2-0 win over a game Bowling Green team. Glass is also a key part of Indiana’s defense. The Hoosiers advance to the Sweet Sixteen where they will face Washington on the road. |
| Mitchell Cashion – Senior – Defender – Tulsa – Cashion’s first goal of the 2021 season was a big one. Cashion made the run he needed to make to be in position to send a cross from Trace Ibrahim into the net to give Tulsa what proved to be the game-winning goal in their 1-0 win over Creighton. Cashion also put in a full ninety minutes on the defensive side of the ball to help the Golden Hurricane shutout the Bluejays. Tulsa improves to 16-1-1 and will welcome West Virginia to Hurricane Stadium on Saturday in the Sweet Sixteen.. |
| Mason Visconti – Senior – Defender – Kentucky – Visconti contributed the helper on the goals scored by teammates Marcel Meinzer and Lucca Rodrigues out of corner kicks in the Wildcats 2-0 win over Santa Clara. He was also part of a solid Kentucky backline that held Santa Clara to only four shots on goal while posting their 12th shutout on the season. Kentucky improves to 15-1-4 and moves on to the third round where they will face Clemson on the road in what looks to be a great matchup. |
| Bridger Hansen – Graduate Student – Defender – New Hampshire – Hansen converted a bicycle kick to give the Wildcats an early 1-0 advantage and put in a full shift on the defensive side of the ball in New Hampshire’s 4-1 win over North Carolina before 3,264 fans at Wildcat Stadium. New Hampshire improves to 17-2-1 and advances to the Sweet Sixteen where they will face number one seed Oregon State in Eugene on Sunday. |
| Giannis Nikopolidis – Senior – Goalkeeper – Georgetown – Nikopolidis had a six save evening to anchor a Georgetown defense that shutout a good Georgia State team 2-0. It was a solid win for a Georgetown team that has only allowed a total of 13 goals to date. The Hoyas advance to the third round of the NCAA Tournament where they with host a familiar foe in Providence on Sunday at noon. Providence prevailed 3-0 the first time the two met this year while Georgetown won the second match 2-1 in overtime. |
