The College Soccer News National Team Of The Week Recognizes Players Who Played A Key Role In The Success Their Teams Had During The Week.

Milo Yosef – Redshirt Senior – Forward – Marshall – Yosef was a force on the offensive side of the ball with an impressive multi-dimensional three-goal evening in Marshall’s season opening 5-0 win over VCU. Yosef recorded his sixth multi-goal contest and 22nd career goal for the Thundering Herd. Marshall travels to face Butler on Monday.
Bertin Jacquesson – Junior – Forward – Pittsburgh – Jacquesson was a constant threat down the flank which opened the field of play and made Pitt a difficult team to contain. He scored from just outside the box and his run down the right side and cross set up teammate Valentin Noel’s game-winning goal in Pitt’s 2-1 season opening come from behind win 2-1 win over highly regarded Georgetown. Pitt hosts West Virginia on Monday in a matchup between two top ten programs that will be televised live on the ACC Network.
Jason Shokalook – Sophomore – Forward – Akron – Shokalook scored twice and contributed the assist on teammate Johnny Fitzgerald’s goal to play a key role in Akron’s 5-3 season opening on the road win over ranked FIU. The Zips return home to host VCU on Monday.
Declan McGlynn – Senior – Forward – Seattle – McGlynn scored twice in Seattle’s 3-1 win over Notre Dame in South Bend. The win over the number four ranked Irish was the highest ranked team that the Redhawks have ever defeated. Seattle has another difficult on the road contest coming up on Monday against Kentucky.
Duncan McGuire – – Junior – Forward – Creighton – Duncan had a productive week of play with a three goal evening in Creighton’s 6-0 win over Oakland followed by a two goal effort in the Bluejays 6-1 thumping of Rutgers. Creighton will welcome Saint Louis to Morrison Stadium on Friday.
Ousmane Sylla – Junior – Midfielder – Clemson – Sylla was a catalyst on the offensive side of the ball for Clemson in their season opening marquee win over a very good Indiana team. His touch on the ball and quickness in the attacking third resulted in Clemson’s first and third goals in a nationally televised contest before a record crowd at Historic Riggs Field. Clemson hosts USC Upstate on Monday.
Christian Soto – Junior – Midfielder – Washington – Soto scored twice to help power the Huskies past Sacramento State 3-0 in their season opener. Washington will seek to up their win total when they host Central Arkansas on Monday.
Kemy Amiche – Sophomore – Midfielder – Campbell – Amiche scored in Campbell’s season opening 3-0 win over Incarnate Word and contributed a helper on the goals scored by teammates Daniel Hernandez, Jalen James and Adrian Morales in the Camels 3-1 win over Houston Baptist. Campbell begins the 2022 season with two good on the road wins. The Camels return to the pitch on Thursday with a contest against Davidson on the road.
Milo Garvanian – Graduate Student Midfielder – North Carolina – Garvanian controlled a loose ball and sent it into the back of the net from the center of the box and assisted on redshirt junior forward Key White’s goal in North Carolina’s season opening 2-1 win over Air Force. He also converted a penalty kick to score what proved to be the game-winner in UNC’s 1-0 win over South Florida. The Tar Heels will seek to extend their win streak when they host FIU on Saturday.
Olle Brorsson – Sophomore – Defender – Monmouth – Brorsson was a key ingredient in a solid defense that shutout St. John’s 1-0 while limiting the Red Storm to only one shot on goal. The Hawks travel to Washington on Tuesday to face Howard.
Bryce Lebel – Junior – Defender – Louisville – Lebel drove a shot into the upper right corner of the net out of a set piece and put in a solid shift on the defensive side of the ball in Louisville’s season opening 3-1 win over Saint Louis.
Ian Smith – Redshirt Freshman – Denver – Smith contributed on both sides of the ball in Denver’s season opening 3-1 win over Gonzaga and 2-1 win over Grand Canyon. He had a goal and an assist in both games including the game-winning goal in the contest with Grand Canyon. The Pioneers travel to College Park to face Maryland on Friday.
Domenic Nascimben – Graduate Student – Goalkeeper – Duquesne – Nascimben anchored a stout Duquesne defense with a six save evening to shutout Michigan 1-0. The win over Michigan was the Dukes first win over a Power 5 team since 2003. Duquesne also shutout Canisius 1-0 to begin the season with two wins for the first time since 2013. The Dukes travel to face Robert Morris on Wednesday.
