Jason Shokalook – Junior – Forward – Akron
Shokalook continues to come up with big plays on the offensive side of the ball for Akron. This week after battling Northern Kentucky through a scoreless opening half of play, he scored what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Zips when he placed a header into the back of the frame ten minutes into the second half of play followed by another header eight minutes later to give Akron the edge they needed to top Northern Kentucky 2-0. He followed that up with another two goal evening in the second half of play with sophomore forward Stefan Dobrijevic contributing the game-winner in Akron’s subsequent 3-0 Big East win over DePaul. stanza.
Shokalook has ten goals and four assists on the season. Akron is now 8-0-4 overall with a 2-0-2 mark in their inaugural season in Big East Conference play. The Zips will seek to continue their winning ways when they host non-conference foe Cleveland State on Tuesday followed by a road trip to Cincinnati on Saturday to square off with Big East opponent Xavier.
