Jason Wright – Sophomore – Forward – Rutgers
Wright is playmaker and is among the key reasons why Rutgers has won six straight to improve to 10-4-1 overall with a 4-3-0 mark in Big Ten play. He is an impact player as reflected in the fact that he continues to come up with big plays for the Scarlet Knights. This week Wright skillfully controlled a long punt from teammate goalkeeper David Greczek and made a nice move off the dribble to create the angle and space he needed to place a shot into the net to help Rutgers top Army 2-0. He also netted the lone goal in the Scarlet Knight's solid 1-0 win over Big Ten foe Ohio State.
Wright has scored a total of thirteen goals including four game-winners so far this year.
The six game winning streak is the longest for Rutgers since the 1997 team won nine-straight. Rutgers head coach Dan Donigan stated, "We're proud of the work our players have put in and the results they have gotten on the field. It's very gratifying and rewarding for us.
Wright and his Scarlet Knight teammates will seek to keep their win streak alive when they host a good Nebraska-Omaha team on Saturday, October 31 in a non-conference contest. They then close out regular season play when they travel to College Park to tangle with the always tough Maryland Terps in a Big Ten game on Wednesday, November 1 at Ludwig Field.
