| Logan Farrington – Freshman – Forward – UW -Milwaukee – The Panthers opened their 48th season with a 3-2 win over Purdue Fort Wayne. Farrington curled a shot inside the right post after receiving a pass from teammate Kasper Davidson and deftly tucked a shot into the back of the frame after receiving a through ball from teammate David Cox to play a key role in the win. |
| Karsen Henderlong – Sophomore – Forward – Xavier – Henderlong came up big for the Musketeers with a multi-goal performance in Xavier’s 2-0 season opening win over ETSU. Redshirt junior midfielder Justus Kauppinen provided the assist on the first goal and redshirt senior midfielder Bryce Curran contributed the helper on the second. The Musketeers now travel to face Kentucky on Tuesday, February 9. |
| Javanne Smith – Freshman – Forward – Lipscomb – Smith played a key role in Lipscomb’s 3-1 season opening win over Evansville. He assisted on fellow freshman Tyrese Spicer’s goal in the first half of play and scored twice in the second half in Lipscomb’s first contest in over 450 days. The Bison will seek to secure their second win of the spring season when they host Alabama-Huntsville on Tuesday, February 9. |
| Lucas Meek – Redshirt Junior – Midfielder – Washington – Meeks was at the right place at the right time and was able to finish two of the three goals the Huskies put in the back of the net in the first 25 minutes of their 3-0 win over Gonzaga. Washington also topped Northwest University 6-0 in an exhibition contest earlier in the week. |
| Dylan Borczak – Senior – Midfielder – Oakland – Borczak found the back of the net three times during the first half of play and contributed an assist on teammate Owen Smith’s goal in the second stanza to help power Oakland to a 5-0 win over Horizon League foe Robert Morris University. The Golden Grizzlies have a big game coming up on Wednesday, February 10 when they travel to face UIC. |
| Oskar Lenz – Sophomore – Midfielder – SIUE – Lenz was a difference maker in SIUE’s 2-1 double overtime come from behind win on the road against a very competitive Butler team. Lenz assisted on teammate Seth Korenek’s goal in the second half of play and calmly placed a penalty kick into the back of the net in overtime after he was taken down inside the box. SIUE is scheduled to return to the pitch on Wednesday, February 17 when they tangle with long time rival Saint Louis. |
| Jalen Campbell – Junior – Midfielder – Temple – The Owls earned their first win in a season opener since 2016 with a hard fought and somewhat unexpected 3-2 come from behind win on the road over South Florida in an AAC contest. Campbell scored Temple’s first goal of the evening when he placed a shot into the right corner of the net after receiving a pass from redshirt junior forward Brady O’Connor. Campbell also scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at close range with a double assist from Mike Eijgendaal and Mickael Borger. |
| Jake Poorman – Senior – Defender – Detroit Mercy – Poorman’s first collegiate goal was a big one. He placed a shot just inside the far post to net what proved to be the game-winner in the Titans season opening 2-1 come from behind victory on the road over Northern Kentucky. Detroit Mercy is slated to face Wright State on Wednesday, February 10. |
| Thomas Haney – Junior – Defender – SMU – Haney was part of an SMU defense that shutout American Athletic Conference opponent Memphis 2-0 on the road. Haney also contributed the insurance goal in the win with an assist from junior midfielder and playmaker Knut Ahlander. Next up on SMU’s dance card is a trip to Tampa on Saturday, February 13 to face AAC foe South Florida. |
| London Aghedo – Sophomore – Defender – Air Force – Aghedo contributed on both sides of the ball. He was part of an Air Force defense that shutout a Dixie State squad that was playing in its inaugural contest at the the Division I level. Aghedo also contributed one of Air Force’s four goals when he scored out of a set piece put in play by sophomore teammate midfielder Quinn Matulis who had a two assist evening. |
| Mitchell Cashion – Junior – Defender – Tulsa – Cashion was part of a stout Tulsa defense that shutout UCF 1-0 in Orlando to secure a very impressive season opening win over the nationally ranked Knights. He also contributed the helper on redshirt freshman forward Alex Meinhard’s game-winning goal. Tom McIntosh’s Tulsa team will host Memphis on Saturday, February 13. |
| Trevor Schneider – Junior – Goalkeeper – University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Schneider had a seven save evening between the pipes to play a key role in UTRGV’s 1-0 shutout win on the road against nationally ranked Seattle University. The win was UTRGV’s first over a ranked opponent. Junior midfielder Renan Dos Santos who transferred in from Neosho Community College scored the lone goal for the Vaqueros. UTRGV will host Grand Canyon on Saturday, February 13. |
