Last Friday, Cyle Larin came in as a second-half substitute for the Canadian National Team and was able to score the equalizer against Bosnia-Herzegovina. It was Larin’s 31st goal for Canada, and it could not have come at a more important time, as they were behind in a game that many expected them to win.

The former UConn forward had 23 goals during his two seasons in college before going 1st overall in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft to Orlando City. He was the first Canadian to be the 1st overall pick.

Larin played three years with Orlando, amassing 50 goal contributions (44g/6a) during his time in MLS. Since then, he has been testing his game across multiple clubs and leagues in Europe, most recently finishing the 2025/26 season with Southampton.

Canada’s next group stage matchup is today against Qatar, who also earned their first World Cup point this past week when they drew Switzerland 1-1.
