One of college athletics’ best rivalries, North Carolina and Duke, is being renewed in men’s soccer, as the two are facing off on the pitch for a Carolina Cup match.

For the Tarheels, it will be their second match in the Carolina Cup, after defeating Wake Forest 2-1 in their first game. The returning junior, Bertil Rygaard Hansen, who scored three goals in the 2025 season, scored one of the two goals, while Rutgers transfer Joschi Schelb scored the other.

The match will be the first of the spring season for the Blue Devils. Coming off a 10-4-6 season that came to an end with a 2-0 loss to Akron in the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament, Duke will have to replace their two leading goalscorers Kenan Hot (8) and Alessandro Arlotti (7).

The match between the two rivals will be played at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC, today, March 1.
