14 College Players Trained at USYNT January Camp in Arizona

US Soccer just finished a USYNT January camp for U18, U19, and U20s in Mesa, Arizona, from Jan 10-16. This camp featured 16 players from each age group, and all three squads trained together. It was an opportunity for US coaches to look at a group of players that they were less familiar with, including 14 college players. These recent camps highlight some of the USSF’s commitment to the college game.

Here is a list of the college players who got reps with the USYNT:

Goalkeepers (3)

Ryan Carney – Providence – U20 – R-Freshman – Carney started every game this past season for Providence, making 43 saves with a 67% save rate and keeping three clean sheets.

Blake Kelly – Notre Dame – U20 – Sophomore – Kelly started in all 20 of the Fighting Irish’s matches in 2025, helping the team secure six clean sheets, including a massive 1-0 victory over Michigan in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, in which he made eight saves.

Jackson Smith – NC State – U19 – Freshman – Jackson Smith is an incoming freshman and will be one to watch if he can break into the starting XI in the fall, now that Logan Erb has signed with the Houston Dynamo.

Defenders (7)

Jamie Kabuusu – Duke – U20 – Sophomore – Kabuusu has made 21 starts through his first two seasons with the Blue Devils and earned a spot on the ACC All-Freshman team after the 2024 season.

Daniel Krueger – Wake Forest – U20 – Sophomore – Krueger has made 26 starts through his first two campaigns with the Demon Deacons. He made 18 his freshman year as he helped the team go on their ACC Title run in 2024.

Tate Lampman – Georgetown – U20 – Sophomore – Lampman has made 33 starts through his first two seasons at Georgetown, earning Big East Freshman of the Year after his 2024 campaign.

Shakir Nixon – UCLA – U20 – Sophomore – Nixon made 18 starts his sophomore year and dished out five assists during the campaign. He also made the 2025 Big Ten All-Tournament Team, helping the Bruins win the conference title.

Braden Dunham – Furman – U19 – Freshman – Dunham made 23 starts this past season, helping Furman make a historic run to the NCAA College Cup. He scored a worldie against Portland to help the Paladins advance to the Semifinals. The young defender was also named SoCon Freshman of the Year and made the All-SoCon First Team.

Gustavo Gonzalez – UC Irvine – U19 – Freshman – Gonzalez made 16 starts as a freshman with one goal and two assists. The young defender was also named to the Big West All-Freshman Team.

Omar Robbana – Vermont – U19 – Freshman – Robbana had four starts and 20 matches played this past season with two goals and four assists. His four starts came in the Catamounts’ final five games, and he had one goal and three assists during that stretch.

Midfielders (2)

Peter Soudan – Michigan State – U20 – Freshman – Soudan was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year after making 15 starts with seven goal contributions (3g/4a). His season-defining moment was scoring the winner against Indiana, the Spartans’ highest-ranked win since 2014.

Jack Pymm – Stanford – U19 – Freshman – Pymm made 19 starts as a freshman with five goal contributions (4g/1a). The young midfielder was also named to the ACC All-Freshman team.

Forwards (2)

Michael Ramirez – Michigan – U20 – Sophomore – Transferred from Northwestern and played in 19 matches with eight starts, contributing five goals and five assists in less than 1000 minutes.

Nicholas Simmonds – Virginia – U20 – Freshman – Simmonds (pictured above) made a huge impression during his freshman campaign, earning ACC Freshman of the Year and a Generation Adidas contract. He was drafted third overall in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft by FC Dallas.
