This past week, MLS NEXT announced its end-of-season MVP awards for each age group (U-15, U-16, U-17, U-19). The U17 MLS NEXT MVP is Logan Moniz from FC Greater Boston Bolts. The attacking midfielder had 21 goals on the year, including seven in November.
Moniz helped the FC Greater Boston Bolts qualify for the MLS NEXT Cup. The U-17 Bolts lost on penalties in the First Round of their MLS NEXT Cup match to Weston FC, who went on to the final.
The USYNT U17s have been calling up Moniz, including to their most recent camp last month in Spain. This should give the young playmaker an opportunity to earn a spot on the U-17 World Cup roster in November.
The class of 2026 midfielder has verbally committed to Duke University. Moniz is another example of the MLS NEXT academy pathway bolstering the ranks of the college game.
