This past week, Furman announced itself as a top 10 team by getting hard-fought road points in two games against ranked opponents. Michigan also earned a massive result, upsetting Indiana 3-2. Vermont had a big-time win against Akron, and Georgetown’s freshman Will Caldwell made an impact in his first collegiate start.
Here’s a look at our men’s soccer award winners for Week 4:
Team of the Week
Furman
The Paladins had a big showing this past week, drawing our #12-ranked Virginia Tech on the road 0-0, before traveling to #16 Gardner-Webb and earning all three points with a 4-1 win. Two results on the road against ranked opponents were enough to help Furman jump 10 spots in our top 25 and into our top 10 at #9 heading into their Week 5 matchup tonight against College of Charleston.
Offensive Player of the Week
Joao Paulo Ramos – Junior – Midfielder – Michigan
Ramos helped Michigan win one of the big upsets of the week by scoring a penalty kick goal and adding an assist. These goal contributions were Ramos’ first of the 2025 campaign, and they couldn’t have come at a better moment as Michigan beat our #2-ranked Indiana and helping them break into our Week 4 top 25 with an undefeated start through six games (4-0-2).
Next up for the Wolverines is a Big Ten Conference matchup at Washington on Saturday.
Defensive Player of the Week
Nick Lockermann – Junior – Vermont
Lockermann scored his second goal of the season against Dartmouth last Tuesday en route to a 3-3 tie. The defender then helped Vermont maintain a clean sheet against our #8-ranked Akron over the weekend. These were a week of performances that helped Vermont maintain their spot in the top 5 of our rankings and remain undefeated through the first month of the campaign.
Next up for Lockermann and Vermont is a home matchup tonight versus Hofstra.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Ivan Horvat – R-Freshman – Furman
Horvat had a big weekend helping the Paladins keep a clean sheet and one win against two ranked opponents this past week. Horvat made 14 saves across the two games and only allowed one goal. The redshirt freshman has now kept three clean sheets on the year and boasts a .857 save percentage.
Freshman of the Week
Will Caldwell – Defender – Georgetown
Caldwell earned his first two collegiate starts this past week, helping Georgetown keep two clean sheets and scoring his first career goal for the Hoyas. Across their two games this past week, Georgetown allowed only three shots on target, giving themselves some much-needed momentum going into Big East Conference play this Friday at Butler.
