Philipp Schilling | Red Shirt Senior | Goalkeeper | Wisconsin |
Team captain Schilling was brilliant between the pipes for the Badgers with seven saves including several key stops to play a key role in Wisconsin's 4-0 win over Big Ten regular season winner Michigan in the semifianls of the conference tournament. Schilling followed that performance up with seven saves during regulation as Wisconsin and Indiana played to a scoreless tie after 110 minutes of play. The Badgers then prevailed 4-2 in a penalty kick shootout during which he made a key stop and converted a penalty kick. John Trask pretty much summed things up when he stated, "Phil is as good of a goalkeeper as there is in the country and he proved that today." Wisconsin claimed their first Big Ten title in twenty-three years, improved to 11-4-4 overall, and punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
