Albert Ruiz | Junior | Forward | FGCU |
Ruiz has been a scoring machine for the high powered Eagle offense. He has placed the ball in the back of the net a total of eleven times so far this year producing two hat tricks. Last week, in what no doubt will be among the more unusual games of the 2016 season, Ruiz scored three goals from the run of play by the 9:02 mark in FGCU's contest with Rutgers to enable the Eagles to jump out to what appeared at the time to be an insurmountable 5-0 lead. However, the Scarlet Knights responded with five goals of their own to make a contest out of it and FGCU had to score one more time in order to depart New Jersey with a 6-5 victory. Ruiz is among the reasons why the Eagles, whose high octane offense has produced a total of thrty-one goals to date, have soared to win seven straight to improve to 7-2-1. FGCU under the direction of head coach Bob Butehorn will travel to face FIU in Miami on Tuesday, October 4 and then tangle with Jacksonville in Jacksonville on Saturday, October 8. |
