Fredrik Skilberg – Freshman – Forward – SMU – Skiliberg hit the ground running to power SMU past Temple 4-1 in Dallas. He scored three times in the first half with his second and third goals coming within a 23 second span. Skilberg has five goals on the season. SMU improves to 6-2-1 with a 2-1-0 mark in American Athletic Conference play. The Mustangs have a challenging contest coming up on Wednesday when they continue AAC play in Orlando against UCF. | |
Phillip Horton – Junior – Forward – Virginia – Horton came up big for the Cavaliers scoring twice and contributing a helper along with Leo Afonso on the goal scored by Reese Miller in Virginia’s 3-1 on the road upset win over Pittsburgh. The win over Pitt comes after a 1-0 win over Syracuse last Saturday for a surging Cavalier team that has now recorded back-to-back wins over top ten teams to improve to 7-3-0 with a 3-1-0 mark in ACC play. Virginia hosts Denver out of the Summit League on Tuesday. | |
Finn Ballard McBride – Junior – Forward – UCSB – Credit McBride with an impressive week of play during which he converted a penalty kick that enabled the Gauchos to top a determined UC San Diego team 1-0 followed by a two goal performance to help power UCSB past CSUN 4-0. The Gauchos up their record to 7-2-2 with a 2-0-0 mark in Big West Conference play. | |
Wilmer Cabrera, Jr. – Senior – Forward – Butler – Cabrera was a catalyst on the offensive side of the ball for Butler scoring their first goal of the evening after alertly controlling a loose ball and contributing assists on freshman forward Palmer Ault’s two goals to help the Bulldogs secure a 3-1 Big East Conference win over Marquette. Butler is 6-2-1 overall with a 2-0-1 mark in Big East play. | |
Chris Elliott – Freshman – Forward – College of Charleston – Elliott provided the firepower on the offensive side of the ball for the Cougars scoring twice in their 3-0 win over UNC Asheville and in their 2-2 draw with William and Mary. Elliott has seven goals on the season. Charleston is 3-3-3 with a 2-1-2 mark in CAA play. The Cougars host Incarnate Word on Tuesday and get back into CAA play on Saturday with a game on the road against Stony Brook. | |
Will Reilly – Sophomore – Midfielder – Stanford – Reilly assisted on the first of redshirt freshman midfielder Shane de Flores’ goals and scored twice with Keegan Tingey assisting on his first score and Cam Cilley on the second in a 5-1 win over California. Reilly and his Cardinal teammates came out on the front foot to secure an impressive Pac-12 win to improve to 6-0-3 overall with a 1-0-2 mark in conference play. Stanford has a huge Pac-12 contest with national and conference implications looming on the horizon on Thursday in Seattle against Washington. | |
Dyson Clapier – Sophomore – Midfielder – Akron – Clapier made his presence known in Akron’s 1-0 win over Duquesne and 4-1 MAC victory over NIU. He netted the lone goal for the Zips with a double assist from freshman Stefan Dobrijevic and sophomore Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal to give Akron to edge they needed to come out on top in the match with Duquesne and got things going for Akron when he scored in the early going in the victory over NIU. Akron is 6-2-2 with a 1-0-0 mark in MAC play. | |
Max Murray – Junior – Midfielder – Vermont – Murray is a playmaker who continues to make an impact for Vermont. This week he scored twice to help power the Catamounts past UMass Lowell 4-0. Vermont improves to 8-1-1 overall. Vermont resumes America East play when they welcome Bryant to Burlington on Saturday. | |
Case Cox – Junior – Defender – Belmont – In a contest that had huge momentum shifts, Cox scored twice in the early going to enable the Bruins to jump out to a 2-0 lead but UIC responded with three consecutive goals before Cox came through in the clutch with his third goal of the evening in the 89th minute of play to tie the match at 3-3. Belmont stands at 5-1-3 with a 2-0-1 record in MVC play. The Bruins continue MVC play when they host Evansville on Wednesday and travel to face Missouri State on Sunday. | |
Ramzi Qawasmy – Graduate Student – Defender – Providence – Qawasmy did the all things well that he needed to do to help the Fryers slip past DePaul 1-0 in big East Conference play. He put in a full 90 minute tour of duty on the defensive side of the ball and converted a penalty kick that proved to be the difference maker on the offensive side of the ledger. Providence is 3-2-4 overall and remains in contention in Big East play with a 1-0-2 record. | |
Myson Darden – Senior – Defender – Elon – Darden contributed on both sides of the ball for Elon. He helped the Phoenix secure clean sheets in a scoreless game with High Point and a 3-0 win over Drexel. He also provided Elon’s first goal in the win over Drexel and added a helper on teammate Michael Clow’s goal. Elon improves to 7-2-1 overall and 4-1-0 in CAA play. The Phoenix have a tough match coming up on Wednesday against in-state foe UNCG before resuming CAA play with another challenging game at home on Saturday against William and Mary. | |
Alex Sutton – Senior – Goalkeeper – Lafayette – Sutton had an impressive evening between the pipes making the eight saves he needed to make to give his team the opportunity to secure a 1-0 win over Bucknell in a Patriot League contest. Sutton has five shutouts and a solid 0.60 goals-against-average on the season. Senior forward Marcos Kitromilides converted a penalty kick to give the Leopards the margin they needed on the offensive side of the ball. Lafayette is 7-3-1 with a 2-1-1 mark in league play. |
