Campbell and Virginia Tech are kicking off their spring men’s soccer seasons this weekend with a Carolina Cup match this afternoon.
Virginia Tech is coming off a 7-4-5 season that saw them lose in the first round of the ACC tournament to end their season. The Hokies return their standout leading goalscorer, Dagur Traustason (pictured above). Traustason scored seven goals in his 12 games played and was selected to the ACC All-Freshman team.

Campbell finished their 2025 season with a 10-6-4 record, having their season end with a 6-4 loss to Elon in the CAA tournament. Campbell had six players named to the All-CAA First Team, four of whom are returning. The returning players are forward Marco Wright, midfielder Evans Dapaah, midfielder Filipe Matos, and defender Lilian Fichelle. The four players combined to contribute 10 goals and eight assists to the Camels last season.
Filipe Matos, entering his senior year as a midfielder from Riachos, Portugal, is a standout attacking player for the Campbell Camels and has 13 career goal contributions (9g/4a). Marco Wright (senior), a forward from Gastonia, North Carolina, was second on the team with nine goal contributions (5g/4a) in 2025.
Evans Dapaah, now a senior midfielder from Accra, Ghana, has been a reliable force, making 33 starts across the past two seasons for the Camels. Lilian Fichelle, entering his junior year from Attiches, France, solidified his role on the backline this past year, starting in every game.
Game time and location: At Virginia Tech on February 21, at 3:00 PM ET
