No player in the country had more of an impact on the success that his team achieved last week than Waite. Waite had a nine save week in goal in addition to five stops during two penaly kick shootouts. The FDU netminder was rock solid in goal for the number four seeded Knights in the NEC Tournament where FDU advanced past number past number one seed Saint Francis and number two seed LIU to win the championship. The contest against Saint Francis was scoreless and the game against LIU was tied 1-1 at the end of 110 minutes of play. Both games had to be decided by a penalty kick shootout. Waite had seven saves in regulation and overtime in the contest with Saint Francis and made three big saves during the shootout. In the championship contest with LIU he had two big saves in regulation and overtime and two key stops in the penalty kick shootout after his teammates converted their first three attempts. FDU head coach Seth Roland stated, "I'm in awe of the way these guys managed to turn things around in the last couple of week and win the NEC Championship trophy and a berth into the NCAA Tourrnament. I'm so excited for them, and they deserve the trophy." Waite and his FDU teammates travel to face the Univeristy of New Hampshire on Thursday, Novebmer 21 in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. |
