Week 5 for women’s soccer was another exciting week with huge scoring performances and upsets. Several experienced seniors stepped up and made an impact for their teams.

Team of the Week
Duke
Duke is the first team this season to win multiple CSN Team of the Week honors this season. That’s what happens when the Blue Devils put a five spot up against the No. 1 ranked Stanford. It was their second straight game with at least five goals and puts them in good form ahead of their rivalry matchup against the UNC Tar Heels on Thursday. Duke was led by an impressive showing from Katie Shea Collins who had a goal and two assists.
Offensive Player of the Week
Sophie Reale – Senior – Forward – Boston College
Sophie Reale scored in back-to-back games this past week and also added three assists against Boston University. The attacker now has nine goal contributions on the year (4g/5a). After beating Syracuse Reale and BC will look to continue their eight-game winning streak against Notre Dame on Friday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Renee Watson – Senior – Wingback – Michigan State
Renee Watson scored against Southern California and then finished up State’s California roadtrip with an assist against UCLA. Watson also helped the Spartans keep back-to-back cleansheets. In-state Big Ten rivals Michigan are next up for Watson and Michigan State.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Ola Goebel – Senior- Dartmouth
Ola Goebel kept cleansheets in back-to-back games this week and extended her shutout streak to three games overall. The senior has now kept five CSs on the season and boasts a 90.9% save rate.
Freshman of the Week
Lila Emmetsberger – Defender – Utah State
Lila Emmetsberger has now made four consecutive starts and had an assist against BYU as Utah State went on to upset the ranked side 4-0 at home. Emmetsberger and Utah State went on to also beat South Dakota State 3-0 to wrap up a strong week on both sides of the ball.
