College Soccer News - Men's National Team of the Week - Week Ending October 4, 2020

The College Soccer News National Team of the Week recognizes individual performers on both sides of the ball who played a key role in the level of success that their team experienced during the week.  

Mohamed Seye

Clemson

Seye drove a header into the back of the frame out of a corner kick served in by forward Grayson Barber in the first half of play and scored again in the second half with an assist from midfielder Luis Felipe Frandez-Salvador to play a key role in Clemson's 3-0 season opening on the road win over in-state rival South Carolina.  

Brock Lindow

Kentucky

Lindow gave Kentucky the edge they needed to top a determined Central Arkansas team 2-1 in overtime when he served in a bending ball out of a corner kick that found its way into the upper right corner of the goal in the 96th minute of play. Kentucky improves to 3-1-0. 

Eythor Bjorgolfsson

Bjorgolfsson scored twice to help power Kentucky past in-state rival Louisville 3-1. His first goal came after receiving a long ball from Aime Mabika in which he utilized his speed to create the space he needed to score from close range. His second goal occurred when he controlled and sent a rebound into the back of the frame from six yards out. 

Kyle Holcomb

Wake Forest 

Holcomb was a force on the offensive side of the ball scoring twice in the Demon Deacons ACC season opening 4-1 win over NC State. Senior forward Machop Chol and sophomore forward David Wrona also scored for Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons are 2-0-0.

Aris Briggs

Georgia State

Briggs is among the reason why the Panthers are off to a 4-0-0 start during which time they have outscored their opponents 11-2. He contributed two assists in Georgia State's 4-0 win over UAB and scored and added a helper in their 2-0 win over Georgia Southern.

Pedro Fonseca

Louisville

Fonseca contributed the assist on sophomore senior midfielder Elijah Amo's goal in Louisville's 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference win over Notre Dame. He also drew and converted a penalty kick to score what proved to be the game-winning goal. Louisville secures their first win of the season to improve to 1-2-0.

Wake Forest

Swallen contributed the assist on both of Kyle Holcomb's goals to help the Demon Deacons open ACC play with a convincing 4-1 win over NC State. Wake Forest improves to 2-0-0.

Matthew Fearnley

Georgia State

Fearnley adds an additional dimension to Georgia State's attack. He opened the scoring for the Panthers in their 4-0 win over UAB and in their 2-0 win over in-state rival Georgia Southern. The Panthers are off to their best start since the 2003 season.

Constant scored what proved to be the game-winning goal when he drove a header into the lower left corner of the net out of a free kick served in by junior Milo Garvanian. Constant was also part of a stout UNC defense that posted a shutout as UNC topped ACC rival Duke 2-0 in their 2020 season opener.

Malou was part of a solid Clemson defense that held South Carolina to only three shots on goal in the Tigers 3-0 season opening win on the road over the Gamecocks.

Smir took care of business between the pipes for the Tar Heels making three key saves including a punch save on a short range shot in North Carolina's season opening 2-0 on the road win over rival Duke.
