Lafayette - Three Star Class Ranking - Dennis Bohn will welcome seven newcomers to Lafayette in 2009 including two recruits whose resumes include being named an NSCAA High School All-American. The new recruits will join a Leopard squad that played their way into the four team Patriot League Tourney for the seventh consecutive time in 2008 before their season ended with a 2-0 loss at the hands of number one seeded Colgate in the semifinals of the tourney. Lafayette ended the 2008 season with an 8-6-5 overall record that included an impressive season opening win over West Virginia and a 0-0 tie with highly regarded Northwestern. A solid season of work for the lads from College Hill but not the Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tourney berth that they had set their sights on. Lafayette will return seven starters from the 2008 team including junior forward B.J. Glenn (6g, 2a) from Philadelphia who led the Leopards in scoring last year. Glenn was an NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team selection last year. Other returning forwards include senior Nick Leigh (2g, 1a), junior Justin Kamine (2g, 0a) and sophomores Wayne Maminski (3g, 0a) and Shane Pruitt (3g, 1a). Junior Stephan MaCurday, who was an All-Patriot League Second Team selection in 2008, returns to add punch and finesse to the attack in the midfield. Senior Chip Aronica (0g, 1a), junior Sam Feldbaum, and sophomores Jake Johnson and Adam Allers (0g, 1a) are among other returning linkmen. Senior Matt Reichenbach returns in the back to anchor what is traditionally a solid Lafayette defense. Senior Phillip Nelson who had a 0.79 goals against average in eight contests last year and junior Andrew Pianko who had a 1.03 goals against average in eleven contests return to give the Leopards two experienced and very capable netminders. A solid core of returning players spiced with what looks to be a very promising recruiting class should make for an interesting 2009 campaign for Lafayette in what should prove to be another very highly competitive Patriot League race.
